Track R compound tires
I've looked around and haven't seen this mentioned specifically. What brand/size 18 inch r-compound tires are you guys running for the track? I'm getting some Apex EC-7s (9.5 front, 10.5 rear) and need some rubber for them.
Ideally, looking to go 265/35 front and 285/35 rear but don't think the rear exists in that size for any r compounds. For those of you running 295/30 in the rear, does the large size differential between front and rear (5% smaller in the rear) affect the abs/dtc systems? What brands do you guys recommend? Cheers |

i'm running Nitto NT05s which are street tires but very soft. One of the closest tires you can get to full blown R-Comp. I'm only running this because i bought track wheels in 19s instead of 18s (i didnt do my home work first ) but they are good tires and pretty sticky.
I hear from my buddies at the track the NT01's and Toyo Proxies 888's are good tho.

I would still recommend a 265/35/18 sized front tire. Since R compounds run so
large you could run either a 275/35/18 or 295/30/18 rear tire and the 10.5" wide rear wheel would be able to support that width tire easily. Those are good staggered front to rear ratios and many R compound tires are offered in those sizes. We tend to favor Nitto NT01's as they are less finicky in finding ideal air pressures, cheaper, and seem to be faster on track.

Toyo R-888s are 265/35 front and 285/30 (not 35) rear. Just ran that set up at Infineon/Sonoma Raceway on my Arc-8s 9.5x18 front and 10.5x18 rear and loved it. Still sorting out best tire pressures. Open to suggestions..

Bumping for further suggestions, looking to get R888 or NT01s on 1M sized EC-7s; more owner feedback would be awesome.
