Why is it that most used cars were owned by little old ladies who only drove it on the weekends to go to church or to the salon to get their hair done? lol (JK)

I have an 9/08 135i that has just ticked over 22k miles this week, I bought it second hand from a BMW Dealership with 12 miles on the clock when the recession kicked in.

I'd like to say costs are trending down as the basics are knocked off the list. Alas, 17-18 was tagged with over a grand on suspension I did myself, and then over a grand paying a shop (I soooo hate doing that) to do the oil pan gasket and while they were in there the water pump & thermo. So those two line items alone added just over $2500 to 17-18. I bought the car in July, so count years as July through June. As a general rule I do all work myself, so with the exception of that oil pan job the costs shown below are all parts only. And, of course, the image below doesn't include the other couple of grand spent on the fun stuff All in, as of this morning the running total is just barely under $11K...

Lots of cars have more than that when bought new. Pretty cool for a used car, plus it's a 1er, so you can't go wrong.

I had spent two years without a car while trying to find an E46 M3, the last vehicle that I drove two years prior was an original 2dr E30 325i Sport that I wrapped around a lamp post and I had owned it for 9yrs. The 135i was £35k new with all the extras but the BMW Dealership bottled it and sold four of them at £26,990, I did not have to pay the VAT as I am disabled so it only cost £23890.05. I wouldn't normally buy a new car but £11k of the price was a no brainer. The only thing that I think is crap on the 135i is the heating as it doesn't get hot until you turn it to #28 and then its to hot, the a-pillars are massive compaired to an E30 and you cant see anything out the back window at night. Mind you going from a 170bhp E30 to 306bhp 135i was mental. The last time it was clean was the day I picked it up. This is an edited photo of the reg number but I do actually own the number and I have it on retention, I bought another private plate with 3 random numbers and my 3 initials Last edited by Diamondblackcars; 12-19-2018 at 04:06 AM.. |

[QUOTE=Esteban;24194274]Thanks! I hope to be around for a while. At least longer then I kept my last two cars. Loving the car so far. Have some new Apex wheels sitting in the garage waiting for some PS4s for spring and maybe pick up a turbo back exhaust and an intake and the car will be perfect.

2009 YOT1 M Package (Satin Black) coming from an E46 M3. Bought with 68k miles currently at 72k. Replaced the HPFP through warranty. Spent about 3k on fuel injectors, coolant hose broke for another $600. Replaced the brakes, got new wheels (anthracite), installed solowerks S1 coilovers and got the sweet spot ride height, installed Oscam Night Breaker Lasers, WiFi Angel Eyes.

2011 128i 6MT. Alpine White, Gray interior, M-Sport suspension. I think about 70K on the mileage. Bought as a new daily driver. Just swapped the rear diff this weekend, and have quite a few other things waiting to go on....or ordered for it.
Previous BMW'S were an E46 330 coupe, than a E46 M3 which I wish I would have held onto. But I'm thoroughly enjoying this 1 series and was very impressed with it the from the first time I drove it. |

My wife got the FS text & pic forwarded from her hairdresser; PO wanted to meet us at said hairdresser where she literally had her hair done while we test drove. We debriefed and agreed on price & PPI while she was in curlers. In probably her 70s it's too much car for her and too low/small/cramped for her big-big-truck husband. She bought it off lease 4 yrs ago; service records show she put on 2000 miles her first year, then 500, 200, 300 after. So, yeah, bought it directly from

2013 135is with 102,xxx on the odometer and she's still running strong. I keep her well maintained!
Next up on my list of things to do is the suspension. I may go ahead and replace the existing suspension my 135is came with to a brand new version of the same setup. |

2011 135i, 28,000 miles.
Bought from a member here when it was about 6-7 months old (he got a 1M). I live about 6 miles form work, have another car for winter days that are snowy / salty and also for the 2 or 3 days a week I take my kid to daycare, leaving... not too many days I drive it. And on the days I could drive the 1-er I'm often biking to work instead. But I love it when I do drive it and I am keeping it! |

2008 135i, 45,xxx miles
Bought this past summer from a guy that ordered it to spec (silver, red leather, stick, nothing else - just the way I like it) in 2008, performed no-mods (other than Michelin PSS) and had it parked in his garage for the past 3 years. Since then I've added: - Koni yellows - Dinan springs - M3 control arms - Whiteline RSFB inserts - BMC short shifter - Raceseng Circuit Cylinder 100 shift knob (AMAZING) - CDV delete - Burger clutch pedal stop - Burger charge pipe - FMIC ($200 amazon one that's great) - MHD stage 1+ Next up: - Apex Arc-8s - Black vinyl top/mirrors - Downpipes - Stage 2+ |
