BRracing 135i - not your avg dd
BRracing has been working over the last year to refine it's BMW E82 135i, to make it a true track killer, while retaining all the daily driver requirements and finese.
We now know that we have the track killer part down, as we have been to over 12 DE events, and nothing comes close (anyone care to try us?)...we finally have the suspension tuned without having to resort to unnatural acts on the front wheels. Here is the short list of mods done to the car, but not a complete list - Engine / Exhaust - ASR fully enclosed intake system, charge pipe, and BOV - ASR custom intake scoops - Evolution Racewerks race intercooler - Meisterschaft GT exhaust system - Powerchip fully customizable tune - Larger radiator - Custom oil cooler, venting, secondary oil cooler - BSR gold foil heat shielding Body - Vorsteiner CF front hood - CF front grills - Custom body graphics - BRracing harness bar, rear shock tower brace (complete bolt in, and rear x-brace/down bars/horizontal harness bar come out to allow full use of rear seats) - Sparco harnesses - lightweight battery (Braille or Odyssey) Suspension - AST 5300 triple adjustable struts, shocks, all w remote resv - Hypercoil race springs - custom bump stops - Vorschlag camber plates - M3 control arms, links, tension, subframe bushings - UUC sway bars, front and rear Wheels - Street - VMR CSL 19" set, staggered - Track - OZ 18" set, non-staggered - Track - Advan Racing, non-staggered - Coming - APEX...details to come soon Brakes - Brembo race calipers - Pads - either PFC or Pagid - Castrol SRF racing brake fluid |

Looks freakin' hot, but have you seen the camber in the rear... for a street setup, this will lead to very uneven and quick tire wear ... better get a discount card from your tire supplier
I'm driving 30.000 miles per year ... would be a costly setup for me but anyway ... looks hot! |

Good eyes on the rear camber. For the street setup, we wanted a look where the wheels were pushed out to the max...but when we added the M3 parts on the suspension, and changed tires (Yoko's), we gained some width, so to get it to fit without rubbing, we needed to add some camber. IF we had stayed w the other tires (same width and aspect ratio, but different tires of the same size are NOT the same size at all), then we wouldn't need the amount of negative camber.
Look for a new set of street wheels to appear soon, same sort of look, but offset and widths will be optimized to get the size tire on the front and rear we want, but that won't require the playing w the negative camber to make them work on the street. |

Well, actually this camber is visually not too bad, but then I would add some negative camber to the front as well. The difference between front and rear is hugh now, adding some negative up front too would decrease this visual impact.
On a low sportscar, this negative camber actually has a nice look. Last week, I saw an X5 with a hugh rear negative camber ... really fuckin' ugly... do you maybe have a pic of a 100% rear view (no angle, the way the rest usually sees the car on track), I guess the camber doesn't look to bad this way.... |

More info on the cage would be great!!! Also, where are your nitrogen canisters mounted in the rear. My 5200's should be here tomorrow. I thought the canisters would end up in the trunk. Nice looking ride!!!

Responses to some of the questions -
(1) The camber we run on the rear is needed due to the size of the rear tires and fitment, but this camber (about -2.5) is just right for when we put on the track wheels and tires, so, until we have the new set of wheels that will allow us to run the wider tires (19", 255/30) on the street, we play this game (2) The camber on the front has an amazing range of adjustment. For just street driving, we get back to about -1 degree, but for track, we run about -3.5 degrees, and we can flip back and forth in about 2 minutes for both sides....real sweet....but we set the alignment settings for the track, so the street "toe" settings are not ideal, as toe is significantly impacted by this range of camber settings and how low we are running the suspension (3) The AST's are GREAT....huge range of adjustment, but knowing that we would need to run thru a large range of adjustments (we did over 9 different combinations alone on our last track day), we needed the rear cannisters to be easily accessible, so we put them in the rear compartment in the trunk....to do so, we had to change out the remote cannister hoses w a longer length. Also makes it easier if we need to adjust the cannister nitrogen pressure (4) You can get more details on the harness bar, rear strut bar (which is completely bolt-in, and allows the CONTINUED use of the rear seats w the easy removal of the downbars/x-brace (just takes less than 5 minutes to pull out or put back)) at http://brrperformance.com/blog/ |

Wicked!! I really like the subtle exterior mods which only hint at the potential this car has. Kind of like under promise, over deliver.
What spring rates are you running? |

Update and answers to more questions -
(1) spring rates = 650#, 60mm (2) car is AWESOME on track....happy to test against anyone and any street car, the only car we couldn't beat at the last track day was a full Porsche Carrera Cup car w Michelin racing slicks (3) Currently getting over 450HP at the flywheel (not wheels, and no, have not been back to the dyno...we keep doing too many mods to keep running back to the dyno) (4) M3 control arms are the real deal....best suspension mod the car can get for the price, has a direct impact on both daily driving (nice, crisp turn-in, solid feeling) and helped dial out a little more of the inherent understeer (we have it gone now...but took a long time to get there), and were able to do so without going to the wide-body kit on the front, as we wanted this car to stay looking like your nice, calm, cool daily driver |
