Pyrat, I sent out an email to Sabrina but haven't gotten a response. Did you have any luck emailing her or did you have to call her?

In any case, I went ahead and bought the following:

diff. oil 83222282583 x3
drain bolt 33117525064 x1
engine oil 07510017866 x7
oil filter 11427566327 x1

I think I will end up buying 2 liters of the Porsche LT-5 tranny fluid so that I can do the whole thing myself in case the VPC messed mine up to. Relatively cheap insurance, I suppose.

Yup, good call.

Keep plugging away at those records. I was unfortunate to not get them until I was home after a 1000mile drive from PCD to Massachusetts.

Ya know, I knew of the issues, I sent some email inquiries before I left for PCD pickup. But it was honestly a 'soft' effort. I made the effort, but I wasnt adament. I was just too jacked to get my car, and in the deep recess of my brain I convinced myself that the VPC service centers were top notch. Im mean, I read great things about them. So, I figured I would trust them (sucker ) and just drive home after PCD pickup.

Its just sickening right now that they deny wrong doing, Im looking at the car and not wanting to drive it and exacerbate the problem. Over-reacting? Maybe. But, Im not a mechanic. I just dont know what kind of damage has been done (by no diff fluid change).

SO, Im breaking a rule I live by. Im giving advice when it wasnt asked for.

EVERYONE, GET YOUR DAMN SERVICE RECORDS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE IN ORDER!!

Edit: sorry flz, it was email. Although I suspect now there may be a "case folder" started at ED titled: 1200mile service at the VPC for 1M. You may not get answers as quickly as I did. Good luck

I have a similar issue...

I have been trying for weeks to get my service records from VPC.

Today they arrived and there is no mention of diff fluid flush. The guy at VPC says it was done, the ED lady says it was done but there is nothing in the invoice that shows it. There is a line for the efficient dynamic sticker application but not for the diff service. I would think if they bother with the sticker then something as important as diff flush would be there right?

I drove 2000 miles to Dallas in 4 days. Extended hours at high speeds. All the while assuming a proper break in service had been completed at VPC. Had my paperwork been given to me at PCD I would have questioned it and had it done before I left, but because the 1200 mile service was done I assumed it was correct and complete.

Now Im being told it was done but its not on the invoice. They too are offering me a goodwill gesture of authorizing my dealership to do a "second" one.

Doesn't make any sense that they did not include it in the invoice. Just accept the offer and make it done, probably it will be first time anyway. And if it is the second what you loose? You don't even have an option here unless you are somehow totally sure that they are telling the truth!

Would you mind letting us know what you paid for each of these items, especially the rear diff fluid?

I went to my local BMW dealer and had the parts specialist look up the rear diff and manual transmission fluids. Here's what he quoted me; he seemed as surprised as I was.

Rear Differential 83 22 2 282 583 SAF-XJ + FM BOOSTER REAR AXLE FLUID SAE 75W-140: $48.48 per 500ml bottle (3 bottles needed). This was the warranty price (not sure what he meant by that; I'm guessing it's the "cost" the dealer gets reimbursed for warranty work); the full retail price was actually $75.26 per bottle.

Manual Transmission 83 22 2 239 654 MTF-LT-5: $57.27 for a 1L bottle (he didn't have this in stock and wasn't seeing any in stock anywhere else; he looked up the other part numbers in Metak's sticky and didn't have luck finding those, either).

I'm wondering if his computer was set to quote prices in Japanese Yen or he had a decimal malfunction. These prices just don't seem right. I don't think the guy was trying to swindle me, though it's possible he made a mistake on the price. These prices can't be right... right?

Also, he said the receipt says fluids are not returnable. (I asked if I could buy the fluids in case I needed them during my 1,200 mile service on the drive home from PCD and return them if I didn't open them). He said he'd be okay with it, but that another parts specialist might be a stickler about it.

According to this forum, shouldn't the transmission oil part number be
83 22 2 156 969 (MTF-LT-5)

Both that and the *-654 part numbers are valid based on the sticky. Seems like sometimes the numbers are based on container size?
