Just picked up the bike and made sure with the cyclery it did fit in the car before i bought it. Hopefully the same applies to the 1M when i get it next year???? The bike is a TREK 4300 DISC size 18.

Besides, mt. bikes belong on the roof. If it's clean enough to put inside your car after a ride, you aren't doing it right.

I think that 1er is pretty cool, something different. Love the lemon. Might want to get a roof rack, keep the interior so fresh and so clean

Or you can go this route. I prefer it over the BMW rack.

Do we even know if the 1M will have the attachment points for a roof rack?

Way too much speculation on this car.

I wouldn't see why not... The flip covers, etc. needed for the roof rack attachment are integrated into the rails above the doors and shouldn't be affected by the carbon roof (if there actually ever is one offered).

Plus, if you can get one for a 911, you've got to be able to get one for your 1M. How terrible are you going to look when you are in Aspen at the lodge and you can't carry skis on your roof... especially if the seats don't fold down (ski pass-through is gone) inside.

how hard is it to remove the roof rack, (when not in use)??... They look functional, but look pretty hideous. I would consider this for my bike if removes fast and easy

Don't own one currently, but I've heard that the 1er rack it isn't hard to put on/remove, but it's not a quick job either.

*shrug*

I'm sure someone else will chime in.

I have the Thule like MadMan77's. It has four keyed 4mm bolts that take about thirty seconds to remove, then the rack lifts off and you flip the covers closed, that's it. It takes a few seconds longer to reinstall, just to make sure you get things lined up properly.

I don't run a fairing though, they all lead to scratches and don't really offer any mileage or noise benefits in my experience. I just pull the rack when not using it (mostly, it's actually on the M Coupe at the moment).

The M3 coupe with the plastic roof has the same rain rails as the one with the metal roof, that includes the attachment points for the rack. I'd assume the same will be true if the 1M gets a plastic roof.

I have it for my surfboard. It installs and uninstalls in under 1 minute. 1 Bolt per corner. It doesn't contact the paint at all so there is no risk of scratches.

See:

I also agree with the poster above: If a mountain bike is clean enough to stuff inside a car with lemon interior (or any interior for that matter) you're doing it wrong.

Yep, that's how I fit my bike in to. Front tire off, slide it on in.

Nice bike, but if it's that clean after a ride, then you're doing it wrong :P. I get my road bike dirty enough to where I won't even put it in my black interior after just one ride =/.

Ok, well, not that dirty, but the tires are still full of shit and I won't put it in my car.

Boo hoo hoo, your car will get dirty. Do you cry when your bike gets dirty too?

MB belongs in the trunk. Roof rack makes the 135 look like an SUV. Embarrassing.

I prefer to put forks forward. Nice bike, but you should have gotting hydraulic discs.

LOL at this forum sometimes.

Some of us ride adult sized bikes, 29ers don't really like going inside small cars. Plus, BMW made our cars tall and narrow, so it's not just a roof rack that makes them look like an SUV.
