3-year BMW oil change deal
In this month's Roundel (published by the BMWCCA) there is an ad for an unlimited oil change program through BMW dealers. According to the ad, the applicable car needs to have at least 60,000 miles on the clock. Price is $199, paid in advance.
Has anyone looked into this and found how true or honest it is? It is supposed to be available through BMW dealers. Seems like an unbelievable good deal. Includes filter and presumably, BMW synthetic oils. If it is honest, my only possible insight is that dealers would examine the car closely and push any repair that is even remotely justified. |

Two oil changes and you're ahead of the game. Sounds like a winner to me. Of course mechanic may see other things but if you have a friend who knows these cars, he/she can evaluate what the mechanic says and give you a go/no go/go later answer.
Some time ago, I had a free dealer inspection of my car [not BMW]. They found a rear universal joint that was about to fall apart. Thank you very much and I changed the u joint myself at about 1/8th the cost of the dealer. |

Thanks, I'll go see the dealer and verify they participate. Need to pick up a few parts while there, anyway. Will also clarify what they mean by, 'unlimited' and report back.

Just read the email from the local dealer. My interpretation is same as
Supergnat's - when monitor says to or annually. Not that great a deal for those of us who drive 5000 mi/yr |

Altho not stated, hopefully 1 oil change per year for those doing very low mileage. I only do 1 oil change per year because I do only about 5K miles per year & car sits in storage every winter. So, if I start this plan in October [just before storage] I should be able to get 3 oil changes.
HOWEVER, I do my own changes and think they cost me about $60-$70 each and no waiting at the dealer. |

Check the fine print. Nothing in there about annual oil changes. Changes are only covered when the computer says it's time. That's going to be somewhere between 15 - 20,000 kms. Doesn't work for me.
