On the front mud flaps I had to trim off the little tab that goes into the gap between the sill and the fender.

For those that installed the mud flaps themselves. Any idea where I can get more of the little fastener-like things with the pin in the middle that you push in and locks the mud flaps into place? They are just like the ones that you had to remove from the car by pushing in the pin in the middle. Thanks

Your local BMW dealer has them in stock.

If you think about that its a bit odd (ie B/S) as the front mudflaps dont fit onto the front bumper... its the wing (fender) and sill....

Okay... for those of you contemplating doing this on your own.
I installed my mudflaps front+rear in my apartment parking garage with the tools listed above. No jacking the car up/removing the wheels, etc. Start to finish it took me less than an hour. Also, for those of you who are wanting to only run these as a seasonal item (like me for winter) in my opinion you DO NOT have to use the tape. They fit very nice and secure without it using only the fasteners. They would of course be a tiny bit better with the tape, but it isn't necessary. A very well designed item I might add.. they fit very well and all holes, etc line up where necessary. |

Just broke the ice with the 135i. I installed the mudflaps myself, so the relationship is official. She's a keeper. LOL
Thanks for posting photos and tips! |

Just done this install today and took me 2 hrs. Had quite a few breaks in between. The front was actually harder for me to do compared to the rear.
For the front, putting in the fasteners gave me the most trouble since it kept bending. I used the flat side of a wrench to push it in. Took me quite a few tries before it went in. For the big bolt looking thing for the bottom. I used a small screwdriver and placed it in the center and pushed it up rib by rib. For the rear, I couldn't do it without taking the wheel off. After it was off, it was quite easy. The self tapping screws provided was easy. The rear itself took me like 10 min on each side. |

Just washed the car after having it a full month wearing the mudflaps. It was less dirty than the week I drove without them. Money well spent and they look sharp on the Alpine White.
If you're thinking about mudflaps/splash guards you should install them asap. |

Wow... sorry I'm so tardy getting back to this thread.
If you haven't figured it out yet, you've got to push the center pin out with something thin and stong.. like an ice-pick, etc. Once the pin is out you can pull the fastener out. |

Hello guys,
I was ordering mud flaps from a forum vender and was noticed that those mud flaps wont fit the front side of our 135, and that only rear flaps will fit, but I saw pics that people have all four mud flaps on their 135. Should I insist buying also the front flaps from the vender? Will they actually go on to the car? Thanks |

Ok...I have the rear off the ground...do I need to remove the fasteners that are already in place? I am thinking that if I do the screws wont have anything to bite into...So I was thinking of leaving everything there stock and then add the screws too....what do you think?

I don't know why you think that the fasteners would not "have anything to bit into" if removed. They will bit into the same thing they are right now. If you don't remove the fasteners in the area the mud flaps seat to then the flaps will stick out a little because they are going over top. You could hold them in position that way and see if you like it. I didn't.
It's been awhile since I did this but I think in the back most, possibly all, the fasteners are screws. In the front there is a big plastic screw you will not want to go over and some push pins. I think in all cases, it's best just to remove the fastener, seat the mud flap, and reinstall the fastener. Jim

128i M Sport install - OK!
So I read the DIY, ordered the flaps, dealer said the fronts wouldn't fit the M Sport, blah, blah, blah. They fit fine after a small mod. All the info you need to know has been covered in this thread.
To Summarize: -Order standard mud flaps/splash guards -Cut alignment tabs on front flaps -You have to drill one hole on either side for fronts. It's in the inner wheel well - it's obvious, don't worry. -Fiddle with the clip for alignment on the left rear. It's not difficult, it just takes some time -I did it wheels on for the fronts, wheels off for the rears -Enjoy |
