Help Cleaning Exhaust

so my dealer switched out my left exhaust under warranty because the flap was rattling on cold start. i bought this car a month ago and the previous owner took amazing care of it, but never cleaned the exhaust. so now i have one brand new exhaust and one covered in black soot.

i managed to clean it somewhat with tar remover, and mothers metal polish but its not coming off easily. any advice anyone?

Steel wool, chrome polish, and a good scrubbing should work.

I've heard coke (or any carbonated soft drink) can be used also, but I've never actually tried it.

Coke or Pepsi and a toothbrush, that's all you need.

I use Meg's ball polisher with some metal polish.
Using a drill makes it way easier than by hand.
Unfortunately, this only lasts for a few weeks.

thanks for the advice everyone. i tried coke… didn't do a thing. i also tried baking soda and vinegar.. that helped a bit. ill try steel wool next then the ball polisher. I'm not familiar with the grades of steel wool? which one would i need to prevent scratching?
