IND Painted Front Reflectors question

Wondering if someone who has ordered them or if IND can confirm that the F8X M3 / M4 Painted Front Reflectors in Mineral White have been color matched 100% correctly. I have read several threads where you can clearly see pictures that the Mineral White do not match and IND folks have responded that they would send new ones out that do.

Never saw responses or confirmation that IND has correctly matched the Mineral White. Wanted to order for my car but want to make sure they match flawlessly before I do.

An update and confirmation would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

It's never 100% correctly... But they match well... from those pictures I saw..

I'm guessing MW will match the worst. Will probably need to get resprayed at a bodyshop for better matching.

It'll probably be very difficult to have a 100% paint match. I used to have an ivory pearl G35 and no shop was ever able to paint match it... This is why I chose to go with AW this time!

We were lucky enough to have a F80post member send us his OEM M3 MW paint code A96 bumper so that we could spend a week making a new paint mixture. During this testing we had a local M4 MW owner stop by to compare the colors and they didn't even match each other from the factory. I'm extremely happy with the new Mineral white color match and would place the color match around a 95% in low light and a 98-99% in direct sun light.

For any members considering Mineral white be careful with this color selection. If any accidents happen there is a good chance that the local body shop will never be able to match the factory color.

Nate:

Thank you for the response, just curious is there any reason why this color cannot be matched, wonder why BMW wouldn't assist or help the community with this. How does BMW themselves match this color?

Seems a bit odd that a color is used that cannot be replicated. Is this because they protect their colors and don't want folks to be able to re-produce the color?

I appreciate the feedback it is more curiosity on my part than anything else.

The issue is with the pearl coat during the paint process. There are many variables to consider: How much pearl is shot, angle of the paint gun, steel panel vs. plastic. If you look closely at an MW M3/4 from the factory the plastic bumper covers have a different shade than the steel parts direct from the factory.

I just got my MW M3 last night and the bumpers are definitely a tiny, tiny bit different than the rest of the body. The IND reflectors I have are about the same delta in difference. Noticeable if you look for it, but otherwise it looks factory.

I just had mine installed today. What's odd is that one side seems like a good match, but the other stands out to me. Gonna check it out more in sunlight tomorrow.

why buy them and get them resprayed when you can just go to a body shop and spray the orange reflectors themselves???

It's not good. I have a set on my car.

It looks splotchy. Some areas are darker than others.

Good from far but far from good.

I guess it looks a little better than orange reflectors...

Completely agree. Better than the Orange but still quite a bit off

Swing by your local signage shop. On my black 335, I asked them for a bit of black vinyl and they happily gave me a small square for free. Using an xacto knife, cut it out around your reflector and viola! Free painted reflectors!

I'll also point out that the F80 front reflectors are the exact same as the F30 MSport reflectors.

The paint match issue is only with the 3 stage Mineral White front reflectors. Match is 100% for Black Sapphire Metallic.

Is there anything that can or will be done regarding the mineral white reflectors?

I have them also. Sometimes they look ok. Sometimes they look pretty bad. It all depends on the lighting. If I could do it again, I'd probably keep the orange reflectors and spend the money on something else. For $125 plastic reflectors, I expect it to be 100%, especially if I'm paying an upcharge for the color.

I had an opportunity to meet a couple of painters from BMW Germany whilst taking delivery of my MW M4 at the Performance Center. BMW had added new colors to the pallet and the paint-booth needed to be updated. These guys where there to aid and supervise with the new setup. They both stated that Mineral White was the most difficult color to paint-match.
