Retrofit power folding mirror
I've been looking and searching around, but have not seen any retrofit for the power folding mirror.
This is one option I regret not getting with my car. Has anyone done this? Is this possible? Thinking about ordering the power folding mirrors (OEM) and the driver window control panel with the power folding mirror switch. I just don't see why this is not possible. The only issue I can see is that the wiring to the motor might be a problem, but if you have power mirrors, you should be able to tap into the same wires. Need help. It would be best if someone knows anything about this before I jump in and do the install. Thanks! |

i'm interested in this.. hopefully someone here will have an answer.
my garage has a stupid poll dividing the two spaces.. so when ever i want to park the rear first, i have to fold my mirrors to avoid scratching/banging when opening the driver side door :-/

+1.... Power mirrors are THE ONLY reason why I am considering on getting Premium Pack next time.... I really wish that they were a stand alone option.

Yep. Couldn't justify $2000+ dollars for power folding mirrors.

I use it all the time when I park in a public lot or on a public street... I've seen too many cars with their side mirrors dinged or knocked off...

I've seen DIY's for retrofitting on E46. I don't *think* you'll need any coding if you just want the button to work; if you want to fold mirrors with key or CA some additional tweaking might be required.

That is good NEWS!
I need help. Where can I order the OEM power folding mirrors for cheap? Would I have to order the whole assembly, or just the motor part of it? Many thanks! |

I agree that they are a great feature. I use them every time I park, and find them very handy in avoiding other people bumping into/scratching them. Plus, it makes it easier when going into a car wash. One push, and no problems!
Hopefully you can find somewhere that can do it fairly economically.

You shouldn't have to order the whole assembly.
It should be just the motor part with the housing. I'm still searching. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.. |

THIS DOES NOT WORK EVEN WITH MEMORY SEATS! I took the gamble and fitted the power mirrrors and switch as i have memory seats in my 2007 E91 but sadly the switch would only operate the mirror tilt and windows and would not fold! I spent around £350 after obtaining the correct parts from REAL, even the BMW parts chap said that they should work after cross referencing the part numbers to my cars spec!
I am an electrician so im going to do a bit more digging on this re the wiring, my mate has a 2005 E90 with folding mirors so if he lets me pop his arm rest switch out im going to test the wiring connections. My car has 7 wires into the back of the armrest switch, im hoping i may just need to fit a link from this to the mirrors but i will have to wait and see! Meanwhile if anyone with folding mirrors could pop their armrest switches out, gently with a blunt instrument such as an old credit card to get leverage, then id be very interested to find out how many cables and what colours there is. |

After a lot of careful research and confirming wiring and specifications, retrofitment of power folding mirrors can be achieved (according to individual vehicle specification)
