Fantastic write up.
I'm nowhere near ready to do this, but when my turbo eventually starts wearing out I can't see any reason to replace it with a stock unit and will be looking at Pure.

Updated op with stock turbo dynos on PPK and E30. Also updated PS2 dyno graph so you can see the difference between my stock and PS2 results.

Scrap everything I said. I was at a two day HPDE event at Mosport this past weekend. All was well until the last session on Sunday. Under full throttle on the long back straight the same damn issue came up. All the warning lights came on, wipers came on etc... Reviewed my dashcam and saw that the voltage spiked to 19V again. Well, back to the drawing board. Gotta get this sorted out as I have another HPDE coming up in June.

That sucks brother. You have a log of when it occurred? Would be nice to see what your oil, coolant, rail pressure, etc were at. What tune were you running?

I wonder if something electronic under the hood is overheating. I remember when it happened to me, my oil and coolant temps were completely normal. My alternator voltage spiked, my rail pressure just dropped, and car wouldn't restart until I let it sit for thirty minutes. So to me that sounds like something electronic is getting hot. I wonder if it's the EKPM or whatever the module is for the fuel pump that is over heating.

Please post back if you find a solution or have any updates. I know of at least one other person that this has happened to during half mile events.

I think I am going to get this turbo and get it tuned on 91 octane. I don't want to bother with meth injection and I don't have ethanol close to where I live. Currently I have an upgraded inter cooler and catless downpipe. What kind of WHP could I expect on just 91 octane?

Great choice. I have never been on the dyno with the PS2 on 91 so I am not sure, but I know at least one guy on here has. I believe his screen name is DrRobert. Hopefully he can chime in on hp numbers running 91.

I'm one of the lucky few stuck on 91ACN with a PS2 (until a better HPFP solution happens).

Car is FBO with all supporting mods.

Here are the results.

Seriously? FBO PS2 making <400whp. I wasn't thrilled with the numbers.

Either way, I just ordered this bad boy so I can actually wake the terbski up!

On 91 and a fairly conservative tune it’s not bad. 91 is absolutely horrible. What fuel are you going to run with the upgraded hpfp?

I spent a good amount of time on the phone with Gabe @ TTFS. He let me know that it's possible to run full E85 on this pump, but the stage 2 LPFP's kept having issues with 'boiling the ethanol' (which I didn't know was a thing).

He recommends E50 with a PS2 until they released their LPFP solution, so that's what I'll run with until then.

Hoping to pick up some good gains...

Nice. Any more information you could share on the pump boiling e85?

Dude that is shit even on a conservative dyno. I would be beyond pissed if I'd spent all that money on ps2 turbo. And 91 is not much different from 93 the standard performance pump gas in the usa. He should be making more.

No it's not. No one said it was a conservative dyno. The tune is very conservative, and on 91ACN, 370whp is perfectly acceptable. He is at 16ish psi at redline with 3 degrees of timing. Both very conservative because of the 91ACN.

You are grossly underestimating how bad 91ACN (Arizona, California, Nevada) is, which is worse than regular 91. I am running E30, which is about 94 octane, and with that small difference, I am able to run 20psi and 11 degrees of timing. So yes, 91 ACN is much different than 93. If you haven't logged 91ACN, I wouldn't comment on how bad it is. With 93 octane, I could run the same boost and timing i am running on E30. On 91 ACN i couldn't even come close.

Just assume that 91ACN is actually 87-89 octane in the rest of the country.

They take shit fuel and add detergents to it to bring the octane rating up to 91, but the knock resistance does not increase.

Sorry I am not much help there. I really don't keep track. I can tell you it's not cheap, but, I am doing it to have fun so I never really started a list of costs. You could easily price out most of the mods to get an idea of HW costs. I do not have any labor costs since I do all of the work (so far). Tuning cost is whatever MHD costs; the actual tuning did myself.

If you are looking to haul ass in a straight line it’s actually pretty simple and cost effective to get 450whp TO REDLINE. a DP,intake PS2 turbo and inlet will do it easy on stock fuel system e30 fuel... $4k including MHD if you do the labor youself

Another install note regarding the oil supply line and GFB DV+:

Make sure you install the oil supply line onto the turbo before putting the turbo in the engine bay. It's pretty much unreachable once it's bolted onto the motor. If you did your install yourself, I'm sure you already realized that when removing the turbo.

If using the GFB DV+, preinstall it on the turbo, hang the turbofold with just a couple of nuts on the flange, barely screwed on enough to hold it, like a 5 threads or so. Front top and bottom rear are easiest to access. While it's like that, insert the oil supply line into the block and bolt it down. It's much easier to reach with normal tool setups with the turbo having some wiggle room.

Once the line is installed in the block, you can proceed with bolting down the turbofold, working slowly across all the bolts from inside out, top to bottom, to seat it evenly and not damage the gaskets.

Great tip. Nothing worse then putting a majority of it back together and having to take 90% back apart haha.
