Angry Front Windshield Crack...

my dad got his brand new e92 328i and about 1 week later there is a crack on the winshield (some small rock hit it on the highway). is this covered under warranty? if not how much is it to replace?

same thing happened to me. new car warranty wont cover that. Try your car insurance, some fix it for free. Mines did. no deductible or anything since i have glass coverage. Depends on how bad the crack is - if it is even fixable.

replacing a new one would cost alot and it breaks the factory seal. some insurance wont even use bmw glass, so i decided to go the repair route.

Not covered under warranty. See if it's repairable first. Most glass repair companies can repair it and you won't be able to noticeably see it. If you do have to get it repaired, request BMW OEM glass. I don't remember what I paid exactly, but I think it was around $500 with OEM glass. The new windshield has a grey tint for the sunshade rather than the blue that you get from the factory. So far, the new windshield has been working out fine for me. The company I went through was safelite. Don't go through the dealership because they'll just outsource the repair and charge you more as they're the middleman.

I had a crack that safelite could not repair, so I had my local dealer replace the glass with OEM parts. It was good as new. Then, 2 weeks later, I got another crack, too large to repair, so another replaced windshield...Still good as new. No air or water leaks...Cost around $500 each time.

That does it. I demand BMW start putting in Lexan ballistic windshields.

If it can stop a 5.57 round, it should be okay with the pebble from that semi ahead of me...
