Ok, last grab at another possible fitment..

18x8 et40 Fronts running 235/40
18x9 et45 rears running 255/35

This would be my ideal setup if I'd go staggered, hard finding a nice set to match but i'm looking, really hard running with a 9.5 in the rear as its such a bitch finding the right super high offset to make it work, apparently anything lower than a et55 will rub.

Thanks for the tips

That makes sense to me, both are wider than stock which should be nicer.

The 9" rear at +45 is a fairly flush fitment - it should be fine most of the time since you have stock suspension which is quite tall but you might get the occasional rubbing. I ran that rear tire and it was okay but I had added a bit of negative camber. You don't need any extra parts though so you can always try it and then dial in a bit of negative camber if needed.

A "1 series specific" rear such as the Apex ARC8 or EC7 in 9.5" wide +58 would actually be a safer bet to not rub despite being wider.

For reference, this rear setup is 17x9 ET50 with a 3mm spacer (essentially ET47) with a 255 wide tire and it rubs very slightly on hard bumps with stock MSport suspension. Another 2mm outboard would be even tighter and likely to rub more. Just a data point for you.

Did you add the spacer in the rear to clear the rear suspension??

So was your rubbing more so due to the 17x9 having a taller tire in the rear? You said it was a 255 but didn't mention the other specs.

Regarding my previous post, I'd love to find a 18x8 et40 and 18x9 et45 setup but there's VERY little available wheel setups in that range. Right now my main two options are the Konig freeforms squared at 18x8.5 et43 245/35 or vmr 701's 18x8.5 et45 front 225/40 and 18x9.5 et50 rear 255/35. I had this exact setup on my previous N54 135 with the 701's and I loved em. I would rather run the 235's up front but I don't want to fuck around with rubbing.

My only reason issue with the VMR's is their weight is basically identical to stock, and even though its a slightly larger set I'd rather had a weight reduction when upgrading wheels/tires. Hence the Konig setup

I'm stuck choosing whether the Konigs would look sexier than the vmr's..

Also, open opinions..I know the fronts would be damn near perfectly flush with the Konigs but I figure i'd have a little wiggle room in the rears, would a spacer fix it?

They’re stock diameter tires so they aren’t too tall.

The spacer was aesthetics only. Plenty of clearance

Bumping this again..So I think I've found a square setup I really do feel would work physically and aesthetically on the 1er

18x8 et40 with 245/35's front and back.

The wheels are FAST FC08's. 6lb lighter each hub and flowformed

Comparing other setups that were 8.5" with the same offset that only rubbed slightly over deep bumps I feel like this set would work.

If it would, any idea if a 245/40 would work front and back? I'd honestly rather have the taller tire up front for comfort and back for better mileage and acceleration (less rev's per mile)

You're not gonna get better acceleration out of a taller tire.

Yea I'm not sure why I said that.. I really just meant better mileage and comfort

Either way, any tips or confirmations??

These FC09's are now the wheels I am fairly certain I'm in love with. 18x8 et45's paired with 245/35/18's all around!
