Hopefully this is the right place to post this but i need everyone's help. I drive an E90 328i with the stock headlights and i'm currently running LED's for both the low and high beams. When i drive with the high beams on for longer than two minutes my car will just shut them off and switch back to the low beams and if i try to switch back they just won't work. Has this happened to anyone? if anyone has ideas i'm all open. I already know my footwell module is perfectly fine and i've checked the fuses and they seem fine as well. But feel free to let me know any other suggestions!

Garage List
Can this be a heat related or thermal shutdown issue with the LEDs?

Read the fault codes of the FRM. There will be some stored in rhere if it's shutting them down.

So I did find two different codes saying short circuit so i'm not sure if that means I just need to replace a fuse or the whole FRM is actually blown...

The FRM will be ok, but if you keep using the car in this condition, the FRM will shut the circuit down permanently after so many short circuit events and the only way you can reset it is with tool32.

Have a careful look at the wiring inside the headlights. The insulation has a bad habit of becoming brittle and falling off causing short circuits. Common fault on these cars. If it looks ok it's probably your LED bulbs causing the issue.

I've been debating on getting new headlights to see if that resolves the issue but I'll definitely take a look at the wiring in the mean time! Thanks!
