1st Annual Dim Sum Meet - e90post DC Metro style
Calendar: USA - Mid-Atlantic

Everyone is welcomed to the 1st meet for the DC Metro e90post group in 2009. Your hosts, MnK6, E93SC, and 00angela00 have arranged a Dim Sum brunch at New Fortune Restaurant at 11am on Saturday, January 10th, 2009.

New Fortune
16515 S Frederick Ave
Gaithersburg, MD 20877
(301) 548-8886

http://www.newfortunedimsum.com/

For those who don’t know what Dim Sum is, I’ve attached a few links below to get you started. It’s basically a Chinese version of Tapas and one of my favorite things to eat. And just like most Chinese meals, Dim Sum is meant to be eaten ‘family-style’; a bunch of different dishes to be shared by everyone

Our meet is open to everyone who frequents this Mid-Atlantic board (we’ve always referred to ourselves as the DC Metro crew) and obviously any other family members and BMW owners. However, we’re asking that anyone who wants to join us, please RSVP to this thread so that we know exactly how many people we have to plan for.

Note that the plan is to split the entire bill equally among everyone that shows up.

So, come on out and enjoy an afternoon with the DC Metro crew, our BMWs, and some great food

PS - for those that havent tried Dim Sum, we'll be more than happy to help you out in terms of what to order and what you're eating

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dim_sum

http://www.fotosearch.com/photos-images/dim-sum.html

anyone planning to bring guests? they are definitely welcomed regardless of whether they are spouses, kids, neighbors, etc. We may even let non-BMWs join

please indicate whether you'll have guests by including a +1 in your RSVP below
RSVP'd Yes: 6 RSVP'd Maybe: 7 RSVP'd No: 8
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

i would love to go but i dont think i can make it that day .. will see if plan changes. parents coming to visit, though still need to see what time they arrive.

i've been to New Fortune here in VA before (i think they are closed now) but never the one in Gaithersburg. however, if guys get a chance try the one in Silver Spring called Oriental East. They are MONEYYYY.. best Dim Sum i think in the mid-atlantic area.

OE is very good, I ran into KL2DC there the last time. New Fortune is just as good, if not better. Plus, the parking lot is a lot bigger

I think OE is better than NF. But there's more parking at NF and it saves me gas

I really like OE too; we'll go there the next time. Or maybe Hollywood East Cafe (Wheaton) or A&J (Rockville)

im sure NF is very good. shoot, even Marks duckhouse in Falls Church is good too except the parking is horrible, always long lines, and the resturant itself looks kinda nasty..lol.

not that i dont step outside the box just havent had the chance to, usually goes to OE if we do dim sum, which is not all that often. go to annadale alot since gf lives close by.

I am just kidding. Everyone have their own taste. Sometimes to me dim sum is dim sum as long as the place serve them HOT!

i agree, dim sum sometimes is just dim sum as long as they are hot.

i worked in China and taiwan for 1.5 year not too long ago so i've had my share of real good chinese food. New York is also a great place for some real authentic chinese food, including din sum. what we have here (Va. MD, etc) are decent but no where near as good as NY and in asia
