Just Got Screwed By Maryland DMV

I imported my 2006 car into Maryland and my brother has tried to sell it for me. Since there was no "title" except the Certificate of Originality, the f*%$ing state taxed the vehicle on the bill of sale FROM THREE YEARS AGO! Taxed on $39000 for a used car worth less than $24000!

The empty heads at DMV wouldn't listen that it was a used car with 20,000 miles on it; whatever my brother told them apparently went in one ear and out the other because there wasn't anything in between to stop it.

interesting case, I would definitely fight it, talking to a DMV clerk is useless
... try your State Consumers Affairs Office Attorney, most are Pro Bono up to a point.

find a some one with a dealer's license, get them to write you a bill of sale...that should help you out.

I was simply saying get a dealer to write you a new bill of sale with the updated price of the car...so you dont get slammed with tax on the old price.
