Dealer says $350 maco and $180 training fee are on invoice
I've never heard of either of these fees. I'm trying to negotiate with a dealer who says that these are on his invoice.
What are these fees? Can anyone shed any light on this? |

Yes, as mentioned above, Training Fee of $180 is legitimate. I agreed to pay this fee, which you can see if you run the numbers I mentioned in my thread.
MACO is an advertising fee charged by BMW to the dealer. It is also a legitimate invoice mentioned by many dealers. I personally negotiated to not pay this fee. Both fees are always included with the MSRP of the vehicle and are never brought to the attention of the customer unless you try to deal at invoice and itemize everything. -robert

depends on the market the dealer is in. For us it is a legit cost (on invoice) for both US & ED. We have both the $180 training fee & our maco is $250.
To put this in perspective though, it really doesn't help us, especially when negotiating a deal. example: If I get a phone call from someone asking $1000 over invoice, I have to do it from the 250/180 call another center who doesn't have maco, I'm already $250 higher. So I either take a shorter deal, or sell nothing. |

actually not to the MSRP, msrp of a maco & non maco car are the same. If I take $1000 off a maco car, my profit margin is smaller than a non maco with $1000 off. Maco only comes up if a client is trying to negotiate from invoice. Only then does it actually matter

I'm unclear on what you mean by "depends on the market."
If you open the wholesale pricing sheet sticked in this forum, it says "training service fee (excludes Euro delivery)." I would be highly dubious of paying this fee for a Euro delivery. |

Yep, I stand corrected, on the training service fee for euro. Our invoices for our area which has maco, will still have the $250
