FS: 128 autocross build
2008 BMW 128i – prepped for DST (STX) autocross class
White on black. Inspired by watching lowside67 autocross his 128, I purchased this car in 2022 @ 136000 km (~81000 mi) with the main intent to race in STX class. The car is currently @ 140000 km (~84000 mi) …yes, I’ve only driven it 4000 km (~2400 mi! (95% autocross) Slicktop Manual – lightest version of this car, and rare combination to find. I looked for almost one year to find one with low km and local. Standard N52 maintenance - completed after I purchased it: Valve cover and associated gaskets, oil pan gasket/oil level sensor, oil filter housing gasket, mickey mouse flange, all fluids changed (Liquimoly oil, BMW coolant, CHF power steering, Pentosin Dot4LV brake, Redline differential) I have spent over $25000 (Cdn) in upgraded and replacement parts and hundreds of hours researching what parts fulfilled my objectives: Handling, NA power, weight reduction (sub-3000 lb achieved!). The build is based on all the fantastic contributions on 1addicts thanks to: lowside67, spidertri, mad_hatter, fe1rx, RyanDavies, Kgolf31 and many others. The 1-series community has been fantastic and very helpful. Listing for sale has been a difficult decision as most of my friends know, as the car runs extremely well, is reliable, and fun to drive, but I've decided to go in a different direction. My loss is your gain! PRICE: $18000 USD (basically the car is free!) =============================== Powertrain: - Active Autowerke header - Magnaflow Exhaust - aFe Magnum Force Stage-2 Si Pro5R intake with carbon fibre cover - 3 stage intake (to be removed for DST) - new Vaico DISA valves - Tuned by Bob at StageFP - Performance Gearing 3.46 LSD (5 plate, clutch) with drain plug added (amazing, noiseless, seamless, 2000% better than the Mfactory I had on my s2000) Suspension: - 3DM Ohlins Trackday coilovers with Swift springs/thrust sheets - Vorshlag camber plates - M3 tension arms - Every available Powerflex control arm bushing F/R including offset tension arm bushings - Powerflex rear subframe brace inserts - Hotchkis sway bars F/R (w/ grease nipples for easy maintenance) Brakes: - Zimmerman rotors F/R - Hawk HPS 5.0 pads F/R - Brake pad wear sensors - Calipers disassembled and cleaned, ECS Tuning brass inserts - ECS Tuning stainless steel braided /sheathed lines including the intermediate rears - Nannies coded out * next update mod was a Wilwood front caliper/rotor setup inspired by Vargas Turbo’s drag kit. Their kit is claimed as 53.7 lbs lighter than OEM, and my target weight calculation would be somewhat lighter at ~ 57 lbs savings Wheels: - Apex Arc-8 17x9+42 - Apex 5 mm spacers front - stud replacement with open ended lug nuts - Bridgestone RE71RS 255/40/17 Interior/Exterior: - M3 steering wheel - new OEM shifter bushings - ECS Teflon shifter bushing kit - Turner polyurethane shifter arm bushing - 22RPD Dual Shear Selector Rod - Raceseng weighted shift knob - Android/CarPlay head unit - reverse camera - Corbeau FX1Pro seats with Corbeau sliding seat rails - Shadowline (black piano) window trims - Sequential side signal lights - Turner cowl delete - Burger Motorsports cowl filters - Antigravity ATX-30 HD (only used when racing but quite capable to daily) I may have forgotten some things but feel free to ask questions. No lowballers — I don’t NEED to sell, and would like the car to go to someone who can appreciate the time and work put into this build. Last edited by Yvrbmw; 08-31-2025 at 07:57 PM.. |
