Know of any Fun MD Roads/Routes to Drive on?

I am have just bought a BMW 135i coupe.

I am very excited. I would like to test out the acceleration/handling/speed of the car.

But what are the best roads/routes to take to have a fun/scenic drive?
Preferably around or in Anne Arundel County.

Does anyone know any good routes?

Sorry, I grew up a little North of there.

If you want Baltimore County/Harford County, I can help.

Have Fun,
Rick

MaCarthur blvd, Georgetown Pike, Gambril State Park

MaCarthur blvd from greatfalls park almost all the way to DC is a phenomenal drive (although closer to DC you have to watch for parked cops). Also Georgetown pike, but you have to find low traffic time to get on it, like 2am. Both of these are twisties. There are some nice roads near frederick area too, especially up to Gambril State park, starting from rt 40.

One idea is to cross the Bay Bridge and head north to Chestertown on MD 213, then west on 20 to 445 to the end to explore the Eastern Neck Wildlife Refuge. On the way back, be sure to stop at Holly's Restaurant on Rt. 50 (near exit 41) for crab soup.

Another ride would be to take MD 2 south to MD 261 through North Beach & Chesapeake Beach, rejoining 2 and taking MD 231 west across the Patuxent and then 381 north to US 301.

Excellent grid maps of most of MD's counties can be purchased through ADC - don't neglect the mountains of western MD as there are some great roads there as well.

And then, you really should head down to Charlottesville, VA and take the Blue Ridge Parkway for some 460 miles on top of the mountains down to the Smokies.

So many roads, so little time...
Tom
