quick oil temp question
I've never really watched the oil temps in my car but ever since installed the jb+ my oil temp hovers around 240 once warmed up under normal driving. i know this seems like a noob question for someone with 1500 posts but i truthfully just got into performance mods.
thanks edit: wow i guess it was a little to late to be typing. well my question was... Is it normal for the oil temp to be at 240?

How does the sport package/18" wheel effect the oil temp??
On the other note, I recall my oil temp is always around 240 to 260 before or after JB+. When I took it for track day last week, after the very last run for about 20 minutes, I saw the temp climbed to about 280/290 (still way under 3/4 of the way). Personally I'd get worried if it goes higher than 3/4 of the way. And is this when I go back to BMW for a oil cooler retrofit? |

Well the earlier 6AT with sport package didn't come with oil cooler - hence the retrofit. Check your passenger front wheel well. You will see the oil cooler clearly if it's there.
240 is fine. Above 270 and you start worrying. Above 285 and you really worry. Above 304 and you limp. |
