New N52 Tune (PowerBox) - November 1st!!

Hey Guys

First post in the non-turbo section and I am soooo excited. I have had a lot of questions and requests from you guys over the last year to get BMS to develop a tune for you guys.... Well here it is!!!!

A new tune for the N52 platform, more specifically for the

E90 / E91 / E92 / E93 / E82 / E83 / E85 / E86 / E88 / E89 / E70 / E60 / E61 / E63 / E64 / E65 / E66

BMS Power Box USA Applications (N52)

• E90/E91/E92/E93 325i/325xi Sedan, Touring, Coupé and Convertible
• E90/E92/E93 328i/328xi Sedan, Coupé, (inc 4WD versions) and the Hardtop Convertible
• E82 128i Coupé
• E83 X3 3.0si Sports Activity Vehicle
• E70 X5 3.0si Sports Activity Vehicle
• E90 330i Sedan
• E85/E86 Z4 3.0si Roadster and Coupé
• E60/E61 528i/528xi Sedan and Touring (inc 4WD versions)
• E85 Z4 3.0i Roadster
• E60/E61 525i Sedan and Touring

BMS Power Box European Applications (N52)

• E90/E92/E93 330i/330Ci Sedan, Coupé and Hardtop Convertible
• E82/E88 125i Coupé and Cabriolet
• E60/E61 530i Sedan and Touring
• E83 X3 3.0si Sports Activity Vehicle
• E70 X5 3.0si Sports Activity Vehicle
• E85/E86 Z4 3.0si Roadster and Coupé
• E89 Z4 sDrive30i
• E63/E64 630i Sedan
• E65/E66 730i Sedan
• E60/E61 523i Sedan and Touring
• E90 323i Sedan
• E83 X3 2.5si Sports Activity Vehicle
• E85 Z4 2.5si Roadster
• E89 Z4 sDrive23i

Works on all USA, Canadian & European models - 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 non-diesel, non-turbo models

The BMS Power Box features a pin out style installation, gas pedal map switching between 7 maps, throttle pedal remapping for snappier response, and dyno gains of 8-10hp and 8-10tq. This is how the car should have come from the factory. Removes that delay when you hit the gas.

Installation takes minutes using basic hand tools and is completely plug and play with no cutting of wires. The BMS Power Box is not traceable through the factory ECU/DME (Including the new 29.2 and later ECU software and MSD81 ECU designed to detect tuners) and can be quickly removed leaving no sign of modification. Installation is very discrete allowing most customers to leave the unit installed for basic service.

BMS Power Box on a completely Stock automatic BMW 328i on 91 octane (dynos attached at the bottom of the post)

Just wanted to give you guys the official pre-release info. This will be release on November 1st, and will be shipped in the order, orders were received so get your pre-order in if you don't want to be disappointed.

Here is a link for a little more info, and Pre-Order if you wish!

http://www.n54tuning.com/index.php?_...d&productId=43

Thanks
Mike

For the record, I've had fast toys of all sorts in my garage for the last 25 years, and drove the 135 twice before choosing the 128 with sport package and very few options. I just prefer the basic purity, lighter weight, relative simplicity etc. of the NA BMW inline 6. My Ducati gives me all the speed I need.

10 extra ponies and 10 extra lb/ft, along with improved throttle response, is well worth $250 to $300. Yeah, we're aware that one can just "turn the screw" on any turbo car from a Neon to a Sube to a BMW and go faster cheaply...we know...and still we chose to drive NA cars, imagine that!!!

N52 Tune

Aaaaanyway...my N52 tune arrived today from Andrew at EMS (a BMS dealer). It's one of a few early-production units Terry put out to get some feedback and get the ball rolling. Waiting for him to post install intructions early next week. I'll post results.

I actually love the 128i too even though I own a 135i. So I visit frequently to see if anyone was ever able to add the 3 stage manifold and ring out the 255 horsies. It is a great engine, just annoys me that bmw intentionally detuned it.

I really would like to see couple more dyno pulls about this product. But the gain is a little weaker, if it was 20-25HP, I'd be sending in my payment rightnow!

In addition, just like Crex mentioned, we still have lots of play room to pull that 35 HP because of detuned engine. I want the 130i's power.

I think there's more to it though; although the basic engine is the same, I've heard the intake manifold may not be the same as the 130, and then there's the mechanicals of the valvetronic system which may be different(?) Yeah it would be great if we could get back all of the "lost" 30 ponies for sure. I would not trust just any company with the electronics of my new vehicle, but Terry/BMS have an outstanding record and reputation, with close to 2000 of the JB3's out there (for the 135's). And, as Terry mentions repeatedly, this is not just about peak power, but also throttle response being greatly improved from the stock "molasses" feel. Most German cars I've driven seem to feel this way, and while it seems okay on a 5-cylinder Jetta, I'd prefer crisp response with my 128. Countless reviewers of the "Sprint Booster" product say it's a "must have" for the increased response and driving enjoyment, and this new BMS tune will incorporate the same improvement - along with the power and torque increases - for $279. If you can afford a $30K+ vehicle, this seems very reasonable.

As I've mentioned in other posts, I plan to do some informal before/after (and hopefully accurate) roll-on accel tests. I will do them on the same stretch or road (you know that's no prob since here in CT we just have so many miles and miles of long straight open road, lol) and try to do them on the same day so the weather conditions will be the same, since that makes an appreciable difference. Maybe a cool dry night!

I would love to install this in my 128i, but it's leased and it could obviously cause some problems if they ever found out I was using it. I know it says it can't be detected, but I'll wait to hear from other people for a few months (after winter's over) to make a decision. Really awesome news though, I'm glad the N52 is starting to get some much needed attention from tuners!

I wonder how a supercharger would adapt to the N52? It'd go great with a custom powerbuldge M3 style hood...

Same, will wait and see. A BMW performance guy who i got to install some parts reckoned best bang for buck power mod would be to get hold of a 130i intake manifold, and then reflash the ecu with 130i software. BUT.. this would be pretty expensive, the above option looks good for the cost. Very interested to hear how it goes.

Will be installing mine as soon as BMS posts the install instructions on their site. Went out and bought a cheap stopwatch at Sports Authority tonight, lol.

If you have an iPhone or iTouch, it would be cool to download the Dynolicious app and get some data that way as well...
