What color is Arctic, technically?

Would it be listed as Silver? Say if I have to fill out a form, I would put Silver? I hate having to call it Silver though, lol. I wish I could call it Silver-Gray-Green-Blue

Its really a shade of blue most of the time under natural light.

There's lots of showroom pics in the Arctic thread where it looks almost silver but I haven't really seen that color on my car. Occasionally it looks grayish, but mostly a light blue-ish color.

I found that in pictures, it often looks blue, but in person it didn't look very blue at all, only in certain light.

Also, to future posters: Please don't base off seeing the car in pictures, only respond if you have seen the car in person..the pictures are deceiving!

If I had to pick one color, it would be _____ Blue. I can't just call it "blue". Honda had a color that was kinda close and they called it nordic mist blue. So I dunno really! I love the color though!!

Interesting question. We have an Arctic wagon on order. I guess blue/silver might be the best description.

Won't it say when you put in the VIN, or on insurance or something? Would anyone be able to confirm the technical color?

When my insurance asked I just told them blue. Apparently to insure a silver car would cost slightly more.

WHAT????????

That's completely ridiculous...If anything, Silver is a more visible color to other drivers and should be less prone to becoming involved in accidents. How is blue any less problematic??

I've got an Arctic Touring (E91) on order.

According to BMW It's officially 'Grey with a hint of green'.

I agonised over this colour for 2 months and have looked at loads in the flesh. The first time I saw it I thought light blue, but every time I've seen it since it's deffinitely light green.

In dull weather it looks grey. Under bright sunlight it looks silvery green (with I hate to say it a touch of yellow). In very few situations does it look light blue.

Although I wanted blue and not green, I have to be honest and say that light green is the predominant colour.

I'd call it "Blue" and if possible, more specifically, "Light Blue"

Thanks - I found it really interesting.

By the way, as a new user to this forum, what does OEM mean? It's used a lot and is not a term used in the UK.

Its a worldwide term and stands for "Original Equipment Manufacturer"

examples:
Bridgestone is a OEM supplier of tires to BMW
Valeo and ZKW are OEM suppliers of headlights to BMW
