The weight is better, but the extra HP's are OK. LSD is huge. Honestly, I expect more for an M coupe. I just don't see myself selling my 1 for a 1M

I remember arguing with you months ago when you were convinced this car would get 400hp - i said you were dreaming and it would have around 340hp- you got quite upset if i remember rightly and went into a rant to explain why you were right and i was wrong, in the end i gave up arguing and said lets wait for the official specs.........................

I'm sure it will be a lot of fun, i would love to take a test drive but with the low production numbers i doubt i will get the chance.

Ok, let's leave out the handling for a moment, for argument's sake, I have no doubt that the 1M will have absolutely stellar roadhugging manners.
Also leave out the whole "threading on the M3's toes" thing, for a moment. Indulge me. So here I am minding my own business in my 1M, just trodding along, and I'm spotted by the a run-off-the-mill 135i DCT, with just a good intake and maybe a nice growling (BMW?) performance exhaust. No major mods, by any means. Upon spotting me, he floors it. And I floor it. Call me childish, call me immature, say that I'm not "getting" the point of the 1M, but I'm sure I'll drive home somewhat disappointed..... |

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a fast car.
Let's examine same scenario, different cars. M3 and 135 with 500 dollar tune... Fast cars are dime a dozen these days, lots of them come cheaper than any existing M car. Most M3 owners out there didn't pay the premium to be faster, they want to drive some-thing special. Quote:

I'm curious as well, because I thought I had read in the past that new/additional cars would not be available for download with GT5. I hope that is not the case.

I knew from the beginning of the "back to roots" compaign, it was all a big pile of horse sh!t.
For the size, 1M is still very heavy, general consumer oriented car. BMW has to market it some-how. Doesn't mean I would not buy one |

Not so sure about this.
Unladen weight of the E46M3 is 3415lbs as per BMW website. Official weight of the 1M is 1570kg (3454lbs) w/gas, luggage, driver. Lets be super conservative and say this adds 150lbs. Certainly puts the 1Ms unladen weight under then that of the E46. |

The press packet means nothing to me...just bunch of marketing noise.
I want to see some real world independent tests and of coarse the price will play a major factor. |

My colleagues have tweeted a picture of the BMW stand at the NAIAS.
The 1M in Valencia Orange , BMW 128i Convertible in Vermillion Red and the BMW 135i Coupe in Alpine White. US Specifcation cars continue with the legal orange reflectors located inside the lamp as the previous models.
