Tyre wear question
Some advice is required if anyone can help.
After a year or so of moaning about my steering not being right and slight juddering looks like we may have found our cause. I have taken my car to BMW main dealers and within 8 months it’s had the wheels balanced twice, and 3 KDS checks. Luckily I have only had to pay once but looks like one tyre which has been on the car for approx 1.5 years has a grove on the outer edge. The garage is saying it’s a faulty tyre, would that mean Bridgestone would replace it? What confuses me is why is it only one on tyre and surely they would have noticed when doing the KDS check?! I always park on even surfaces so not sure why its more worn in certain areas than others. Image One Image Two |

If you're talking about the rears, they always wear the inside edges due to the camber. On mine (and several others) they've been down to the canvas on the inside edge whilst the rest of the tyre has been legal.
This is one reason why I swapped to non-runflats, as the sidewalls are less stiff so the rest of the tyre gets planted fairer on the road surface and as a result rear end grip is improved no end (as is ride quality on an M-Sport) |

Pressures - check them weekly. Inflate to 0.2 bar over whats on the car - works for me. All my tyres (rft) have looked like that - be it 320d or 645.

Nope this is the front drivers side. Surely both fronts would wear the same?!

I'm surprised the garage did a KDS check and didn't even notice this. |

I have had exactly the same sort of wear on all 4 of my bridgestone runflats. I joined this forum and this is my first post. I have spent hours of reading and think its a great forum.
I'm learning so much, but one thing seems for sure is to get rid of the runflats on 19 rims and replace with non runflats. Am I right? The pressures I have on mine are 3.0bar front and 3.5bar rear. I check regular and I hope this is not too high?I normally have family in the rear when out. Replace with what, i'm still not sure? Lots of reading and various opinions. Many say the Falkens are a good tyre. But they don't make a 255/30R19. My local 'Elite Wheels' in Rainham Essex, advise it doesn't matter just fit the 265/30R19. But Ive been reading that someone has fitted this size (but different make) these and they are 'rubbing'. Can anyone confirm that you can/not fit 265/30R19 on a 335i convert? I have no technical expertise whatsoever so I'm finding this forum an enjoyable experience, and it will certainly make me more wiser. |
