I love my 128i. No worries about the fuel pump. And since its my commuter, definitely like the mileage. It's my 4th car. So it fits a specific purpose. I wouldn't buy a car with known issues....

just get a 135. that way you will never need to worry about it. If i ever asked myself the questions youre asking us now i would have bought a 135. I knew the 128 was perfect for me, which is why i got it.

Simple as that.

Exactly what I was saying back in 08' more power but so many more things that can go wrong. That was one reason I chose the 128i over 135i. Plus I dont have to buy tires every 15k-20k miles lol

I am a bit disappointed nowadays. I am getting some work done on my car, and I got a loaner 528i with new 8speed gearbox and it is getting 34 mpg on highway with 78 mph average.

I believe that BMW offers that option only on their 5ers and 7ers (labeled luxury sedans).

It would be nice if they could make it affordable or even an upgrade option on the 1er, but I highly doubt they would market that to our crowd.

Well when emission standards change BMW will have to do something.

The turbo 4 cylinder engines will help the mileage and emissions quite a bit.

Love my 128i, although I wouldn't mind having a 135i with all the available aftermarket products but I would be broke by now. Purchased my 128i used and I was on budget but I would agree with others about getting the M-sport package - the bumpers of 128i are a bit dull compared to the 135i.

135i is a quicker car. A fast car would be a Z06, GT-R or GT3

I'm sure it's would be more than enough power for me (it has more power than my current and last 2 previous BMWs), but I have this feeling I will regret not getting a 135i. I haven't driven them back to back, but with the $3K price jump of the 2012 135i, that's over $8K more.

So are all the 128i owners happy with their decision? No pangs of regret? If you could do it over again, new 128i or low mileage CPO 135i?

(FWIW, I'm looking at 6MT + M Sport for both, those are only requirements).
A 128i with Msport and 6mt would be an awesome daily driver. As long as it had leather and Xenon's to go along with it I'd call it a proper BMW.

FWIW, I got a quote for a 2011 128i and a 2010 135i and my agent said they were within $40 of each other. This is in Mass and I know each state can vary a lot.

from a casual search, there are a lot more 1 series CPO's available than when i bought my car a year ago. Sometimes, i wish I was able to wait another year before buying my 128i, because a low mileage 135i under 30k is a great deal.

agree 100%! i saw a 2011 135i with sport and premium package for 34k, only 3,000 miles. A year ago i got my 128i new with sport and premium for 35k

When i bought my 135i, i considered nothing else as i wanted only a 135.

I love my car and the performance & sound etc but i'm almost certain that i'd be just as happy with a 125i (128i). I very rarely utilize the power of the 135i and will not take it to the track or mod it.

The thing is though that i would have to option up the Xenon headlights, M-sport pack and the 261 M wheels to a 125i (which the 135i comes all standard with) which means for not much more i may as well just buy a 135i.

Woah you have limits on what you can drive with a provisional license on that side of the equator? Over here you just can't drive certain hours with certain numbers of people in your car. It would be a great idea if the US did that.. a few months ago I saw a kid that couldn't have been more than 18 years old bringing in a dinan m5 for service at my dealership. and i thought i was too young for my car..

that said, 35K miles and 4 visits to the dealership for HPFP issues later, I would have been perfectly happy with a 128i if it had sports package, xenon lights (say what you will, but halogens on a 128i suck, it really makes it feel like the "bottom" bmw even though i'd take it over a 328 or 528) and manual.

I have step in my 135i because an old lease was running out, there were no manuals with anywhere near my specs on the east coast at the time, and i couldn't wait almost 4 months (counting august break where they don't make cars) for a car. If i took a 128i, there's no way I would have taken it without a stick. IMO a stick 128i is more fun than an auto 135i, but hey what can you do. Just do what makes you happy and what makes you have fun.

I thought I was in the "Any 128i buyers regret not getting a 135i?" not "any 135i buyers think about getting a 128i instead".......

I just ordered a 128 M sport. I like the look of the fog lights with the aero package. 128 is plenty quick and fun. And about $5k cheaper for me. Only wish I could order it with the 261M wheels that come with the 135 M sport. So I will buy a set from a member here.

The only thing that makes me wanna get a 135 is the number of mods you can get for the n55/n54. I wish I could get something like the tune germans offer.

I traded my 2008 128 in for a 2010 135. So, yeah...
