335i spark plugs

Been doing some research on the forum and it seems stock factory plugs are the best bet. My question is I have 41k on my 07 335 6k with a tune and original plugs. I do notice some stumbling at idle nothing major but I want to change out the plugs. I have the extended service and maintenance plan but the dealer won't change out the plugs for another 5k. So I was going to just do it myself but wasn't sure if that would cause any warranty issue?

It shouldn't as long as you change it with OEM plugs.

Ya I was just wondering when the time does come to change them they will only have about 5k on the new plugs so I was just gonna tell them I changed them out. Wasn't sure how BMW would view that as far as warranty work goes

The stumbling problem may not be directly related to the park plugs. I changed mines couple of weeks ago and When my car is idleding it stumbles from time to time, I'm gonna clean the intake valves this week, hopefully that solves it...
But Defenetly change the plugs and no, you won't have problems with the dealer as long as you do it propertly

Here you can find the cheapest spark plugs for 335i (Bosch ZGR6STE2 which is what BMW uses):

http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...umber=zgr6ste2

I changed mine by myself and while it isn't very hard, you must have the proper tools and some patience. The spark plug socket is not a regular socket, you need the special 335i spark plug socket which is thinner than standard sockets, the cheapest is here:

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/ES13...ket/ES1306821/

Unfortunately the stumbling idle will not disappear after the spark plug service, but it will improve.

I was in the same situation. I started getting misfires at 43k before putting new plugs in. I would highly recommend changing them.

Change them the car will run sooo much better. I was on original plugs up to 45k and the car misfired and ran like crap everytime I put my foot down. I replaced them and it was like a whole other car.

Just for the heck of it I called a local BMW shop to see what it would cost to just have them swap the plugs(that I'm supplying). $200 !!! 2 hrs of labor and a charge to reset the computer!!! That's a 10 second job. That's why I always try and do all my own repair and service on my vehicles. I know people need to make a living but $250 and I'm supplying the plugs. It took me 20min to strip everything down to the plugs and mess around with that socket that didn't fit. By the way I purchased that eBay brand it's the wrong thickness I'm sending them an email.

Not trying to thread jack but wondering what/when you think new plugs should be installed.

I bought me 335 with 52k in it, BMW told me it had the maintenance plan so plugs were replaced, I have put jb4 and DCI on it and currently at 63k. No, noticeably ruff idle??

And now for a double thread jack..are "performance coils" and "performance wires" worth it? I just saw there was a sale in them in tje latest Bac Auto mag.

Thanks all, OP, hope you don't mind my questions in yur thread.

Lol the performance coils will run you a cool 1k
As far as wires, nothing yet.
If tuned, I would say change em every 20k miles or so....

So are you saying that they are not worth 1k for the "extra performance" they provide?

I'm referring to the okada plasma coils, very few members have them here.
Unless you plan on tuning some serious power not worth it IMO.
If one of your coils go bad and is not cover under warranty they only cost 45~

GL!

Go to sears and get a craftsman one and grind it down to thin it out. On second thought, just grind down the one you already have. Thats what I did and it worked like a charm.

Has anyone tried putting in plugs that are one step "colder"? in my VW/audi days, there was benefit to going with colder plugs after chipping the car.
