I'm a little confused here- how is it that the 1M pulled away from the E92 M3 but was fairly even against the Z4 M Coupe??

A few remarks; 1 Speed wasn`t that high at the end, maybe around 100-120 km/h 2 Andre is a well known Pro-Driver, I`m just an amateur in that respect 3 Andre did step on it just a little bit early, or I just a little bit late As I did drive both cars I would say that until 200km/h there will be no shocking difference, after that drag is a serious componant and the M3 with obvious more HP will walk away......... |

Nice vid, too bad we couldn't understand a word (what language was that in?)
Aside, it is logical with the torque numbers that the 1M in a sprint will be victorious but it's not all about draggin the cars. These (I mean all M's) are made for driving pleasure, circuit type or mountain driving, anything other than that and the cars' potential is wasted. I think too many people focus on the drag racing issue, for that, the 1 is your bag (or a Mustang 302 boss) but it is also a beast in the twisties. I agree with Dan, finally people approve that it is an M, problem is that too many people have not yet taken delivery or been able to drive one and that's where speculation sets in. Too bad they made it limited production, affordable and to more people would have opened the door to more interesting M development and opportunities, MHO. |

it is right for M3 with DCT. M3 with MT would be back to 210 and then begins to catch up. |

If you noticed that the E36 M3 was hard to beat. 1//M had a slow pull on the E36 M3. Euro E36 M3 has 325 horsepower engine-which most of the power are made it in the upwards of 5k RPM-plus lighter chassis (than E92 M3). BMW is moving away from engines with high RPMs power-making machines. Instead, they are focusing on forced induction that will bring great power results, and good fuel economy. |

Actually, we made subtitles for the video, but I couldn't add them to the video; don't know why (may be because I made the file on a Mac or something).
But what Advevo and that other guy (which happens to be me) are discussing, is basically the same as the test on BMWblog. Edit: forgot to mention, you can see some Advevo-drifting with the 1M in the first part of the video. (@-=Hot|Ice=-) Truth is that many many M cars sit in garages, while people have second cars for daily drivers. Just ask me, my Z4 rarely leaves it, while my 135i gets the daily commuting and that's not because I like it that way, it's simply that I find the M fairly impractical for hauling the kids and my stuff to school/job. If I got a 1M, I reckon I would use it daily, since it offers the best of both worlds. Just MO.

The 1m is faster than a V8 M3 only on short tracks.

Why in the world would you hate on another BMW, especially the M coupe or M3? They are all sick cars!!! Who cares if one is faster than the other. My friends M3 was outrun by a 1995 Honda Civic Hatchback while we were on the freeway...? We later found out the tardo was running 450 hp. But guess what, the civic will never be a BMW I understand the purpose of this vide, I'm only saying there is no reason to make negative comments on other ///M cars.

Actually, we wanted to see if the 1M is an easy grabbed together parts bin or a 'real M car'. I was quite surprised it turned out to be the best car (together with the Z4). |

The 1m consistently traps 4mph slower than the M3, regardless of transmission.
The 1M is an awesome car and a pretty solid bargain. It is slower in a straight line than an M3. Overstating it's capabilities actually detracts from the car. 1M zealots are beginning to remind me of Honda guys in the early 90's. |
