Video: BMW 1M vs CSL on the Nurburgring
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Here is a lap behind a track prep CSL in my bog standard 1M coupe. Some more info. The guy in the CSL has done lots of laps more then 1000 but is no racing driver. I have done about only 80 laps in total or so. But i am racing driver and adapt very fast to new tracks. If i had more laps under my belt i could go easy under 8 minutes BTG. I really doubt the 7.50 CSL ring time the 1M is pretty close already there no 25 sec difference. Mount some pilot sport cups on the 1M and there is not much in it. I was driving in M mode and DSC off. Everything else was off factory. The seats don t give enough support on track and you still sitting to high in car. On long journey s to the ring the seats are perfect. So it s all compromise. And you can swap seats for race shells seats easily if you wish. The M3 CSL has: Rollcage pilots sport cups on 18 inch wheels Better coil over suspension Big brakes race seats and harness Titan exhaust with race cats Official Sport Auto ring times are: M3 CSL - 7:50 BMW 1M Coupe - 8:15 Last edited by Advevo; 08-01-2011 at 01:57 PM.. |

What I wouldn't give to be in a 1M coupe, screwing with a CSL mule driver on THE track.
That would make my entire month. Thanks for the post!! EDIT: I thought it was a current gen M3 CSL in testing (to explain my calling the driver a mule). Either way, it was awesome to watch! Last edited by OdomPHD; 08-01-2011 at 01:18 PM.. |

amazing! Thanks for sharing!
I personally and having problems getting that oh-so right seating position in my 1M... any pointers on how to really feel engaged with the vehicle. Obviously your seats vary from this car to your Porsche, how do you seat yourself when getting into a vehicle for the first time? Do you feel it out or do you have any tricks up your sleeve that make the process an easier one...

This was an 8.15 but with traffic and one accident.
The accident cost me about 8 to 10 secs. And then add the traffic to it. Which proberly cost me an other 10 sec in total in the complete lap. So a lap BTG under 8 min could have been. |

i use a Gopro with roll cage mount. And made some changes to the roll bar mount to get grip on the headrest piping. I made one mistake though. I should have put the seat in the highest position.
