Windshield cracked, any recalls?

Washing my car today, and noticed a 8-10 inch crack near the top of the windshield that goes into the rubber molding. There are no chips or anything to lead me to believe this was caused by being hit by a rock or something, it looks like it just cracked on it's on. I certainly don't remember anything hitting the windshield and i am the only one who drives it. If it cracked on it's own, is it covered under warranty, anyone? If not, where can i get a new windshield and how much?

USAA already says that I will have to pay the deductible to get this fixed and the dealer says 600 euro for new one. I need to find something less expensive if i'm coming out of pocket for this:mad:

You weren't washing it with boiling water were you? j/k

Have you called the dealer to have them take a look? Could be a result of flexing and the glass not having enough "wiggle room".

called the dealer to ask about it, that's when they gave me the price on a new one. The guy told me to bring it monday so he can look at it. Another guy i talked to that had a similar problem said they will tell me something hit it no matter what it looks like so i guess im pretty much stuck with buying a new one. The car ships on May 9th, USAA says since it's in Germany, they won't replace the glass for free, like they do stateside. Total horseshit because you pay twice the amount for your premium here

this will be the 2nd time i've had to spend over 600 euro on this 3 month old car. Had to have the front bumper replaced a month ago due to a mishap which was my fault

Well, you could be here in Vegas, where USAA does not cover broken windshields at all. When I first moved here they told me that my windshield replacement coverage wasn't offered in Vegas due to all of the construction here.

You're assuming that the BMW OEM glass is better than alternatives. I'm not so sure it is...man, my windshield glass sucks big time.

why does your windshield glass suck? i've read in some forums that the OEM glass is soft. is this true?

you can go to the BMW dealership and ask them to inspect it for stress crack. if it's a stress crack, then they can replace the windshield under warranty.

The dealer should be able to replace your windshield under warranty as long as their are no signs of the windshield being physically damaged.

Update

So i went to the dealer this morning before work, the service manager comes out to inspect my cracked windshield since he is a windshield specialist? anyway heres hows the conversation went:

him: something hit your windshield
me: haha, show me where
him: right here...on the top
me: there is nothing there...
him: we cant replace it under warrenty because something hit it
me: fields bmw living up to its name right here...
him: what do you mean by that?
me: your customer service sucks
him: sorry you feel that way and walks off!

Luckily in the state of FL our insurance co. has to pay for windshield replacements. but its being done by a local company because fields bmw labor would cost me 400 out of pocket! And yes the glass is going to be OEM.

Warranty? Doesn't your insurance cover the replacement for free?

Most insurance companies don't cover windshields anymore... They usually set you up with a special windshield shop that'll give you a better deal than if you were doing it on your own.

on the the state of FL the windshield carries no deductible and you have the right to choose any workshop you want. don't go to a local company that's what happen to me.

my windshield was broken allstate send me to a local shop, 6 mothns after the windshield starts liking water.
