Camshaft tools quesion

My 335i head gasket blew , now I am doing a head gasket replacement on my N54, I am about to take off the head I wanted to take the cam off to machine shop to clean out the carbon build up and deck the head at the same time, I see that BMW required a special tool to install the camshaft into camshaft cover ( cam ledge?) do I really need that tool or I can just torque it down with bolts ? I only have the camshaft sensor tool / camshaft holder . anyone had done it? thank you in advance
