New BMW M5 gets an Acoustic System that Replicates the Engine Sounds in the Cabin

http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2011/09...stem-that.html

Am I the only one who thinks that this is the stupidest thing BMW has ever did ? It's just hilarious ! How about removing some of the 50kg of sound insulation material spread across the car and let the engine note be heard naturally ? Oh, you can't do this because there are some fat old rich people that want M5's and are bothered by the sound ?

If I wanted engine sounds through speakers I would have bought a PlayStation. I don't need these stupid things in the ultimate driving machine ! I am pissed because in a few years there will be no mid-range priced sports cars to choose from...

Keep crying. If you don't like the feature then just don't turn it on. Simple as that.

I think the way it works is they send the sound of the engine through pickup mics in the engine area, what's wrong with that? Still your engine making that sound lol

EDIT: OMG, scratch that, just watched the video LOL wtf!!!!

Still transmitted by speakers. I'd rather have them do something like the Mustang 5.0 and just have a sound tube

Fail:

The 135's have a stupid sound generator on their charge pipe.

Just pulled mine out a couple of weeks ago........and I like the natural sound much better just like I like natural boobs much better.

Artificial is just plain wrong!
