LUX H8 Install Problem
Tried installing my LUX H8 bulbs last night, and OMG! My hands are too big to install the bulbs inside that tiny little port above the headlight housing.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to install them? What a headache!! |

Persistance! The only thing I can recommend is attempt to match up the pattern on your old bulb with the new lux so your not aimlessly spining the lux led.

It took me about 30 minutes. I was only able to use my index and middle fingers to maneuver the LED into the housing. Tightening was a chore, but I was able to finger tighten it just enough to sit properly. I used pliers to fasten it down (with a piece of leather shammy protecting the heat sink) but it was already locked in.
I followed Lux's suggestion of lowering the heat sink down first, holding the neck of the LED with my fingers, and using the wires to gently lift it into the housing. Matching the tabs wasn't too bad, at the right angle you can see what needs to be done. |

I gave up after 2 hours. My hands hurt and the instructions are misleading. The directions make it sound easy and say there is plenty of room to maneuver.
Maybe I just need to use child slave labor to get this done. |

By far the best technique is lowering the heatsink down first, i.e. "backing it in"
Despite the fact that I know this, and have done it many times, it sometimes still takes forever. Once I got so tired of it that I made my girlfriend help, and surprisingly she actually was able to get it. Persistence +1

I found that on my '11 e90, I had to slide a clip that was interfering with the bulb assembly off of its post to get the bulb to fit so I could turn it to latch it into place. I was worried that by doing so I might mess something up, but I didn't notice any problems afterwards. I looked at some instructions somewhere from LUX that mention breaking off some tab inside of the housing, so I guess that it's OK to do so.

I also tried this & my hands couldn't get it. I spend almost couple of hours trying to figure out 'till my hand gets stiff & couldn't even hold my burrito. Then I decided to just remove the bumper & headlights...it took me only less than an hour to complete the job. Then I ate my burrito happily 'till it's gone right in front of my new angel eyes....

I began taking apart my bumper last night but ran out of time. (Got too late for me)
Hopefully my girl can insert the bulbs for me, so I don't have to take off the bumper. Cross your fingers |

Make sure you check out this pdf from Lux. The second picture shows the tab that I had to pry off in order to get my lights to go into the socket. Without doing so I struggled for 20 minutes with no success. Pried that thing off and they went right in.

It's definitely a big hands thing but once you've done it once it's easy, just find a technique using your index & middle finger to rotate the bulbs. I can swap bulbs in and out of there at 2mins per side now.
