Wanting to paint calipers black
Looking to just blend the color of the brakes with the car, so I'm looking to paint the stock ones black. I'm wondering if there are any specific paint kits or paint material you guys used to paint them. Specific brand or whatever. High heat of course.
I'll be looking to brush paint them. Thanks,

The G2 brake paint kit from Tirerack.com works fine. No need to pull off calipers. Comes in every color. Check it out!

I wanted to do black because it will look less tacky than red. No need for flame from anyone

I did the tacky red with G2. The stuff works very well.
Btw. Has anyone changed colors after some time? I might want to change to black along with painting my rusting hubs. |

You may not trust me (since I'm a newbie) but you can use Duplicolor Hi-Temp ceramic engine enamel, followed up by as many coats as you wish, of high-temp clear coat to paint your calipers.
I basically restored the paint on my stock Supra calipers by: 1. Cleaning them with a de-greaser 2. Wet sanded the caliper with 800, 1000, and 2000 grit sandpaper 3. Applied a adhesion promoter primer 4. Applied multiple layers of black 5. Applied the OEM looking "Supra" decal 6. Applied multiple layers of the hi-temp clear coat It's been 1.5 years, and the paint is still shiny. The only downside is that they are spray cans, so you would have to either mask your wheel and wheel arch area very well, or remove the caliper altogether. Duplicolor also sells a caliper paint kit which is brush applied (like the G2 system). |
