Foam filters with the N54 motor

Hey guys, was thinking about building my own DCI setup since I have a TIG, tubing bender, etc. at my disposal. Has anyone had any experience or advice against using UNI foam filters with our motors? I've used them for just about every car in the past but wasn't sure if there is some BMW specific reason why I shouldn't. Forgive me if this has been talked about in the past, I'm on my iPad and the app doesn't have a search feature that I could find. Thanks guys!

I know ITG makes a foam filter for the N54.
