Dinan Badge - Yes or No?

I know most will probably say now but hell I did earn it:

1. Strut Tower
2. Stage 3 Suspension
3: Stage 2 Software
4. Intake

Working to get the exhaust on the forums and I am pretty much done for now (possibly the oil cooler/inter-cooler later)

Just wanted your guys thoughts?? I will say the Stage 3 suspension for the x-drive cars has been a blessing as it feels just as grippy if not more then what I had in my M3.

Dinan badge not worth it. To expensive and tunes like cobb, JB, Vishnu will outperform the Dinan tune and are a fraction of the price. I guess it's what you want is what it boils down to.

Already has the Stage 2 tune on it. I know about Cobb and how good it is but I am overall happy with what I have so far.

jeez - Pat. First you say it isn't worth it, then you turn around congratulate him

OP,

I have a Dinan M5 - enjoy all the stuff I put it into it. Makes a difference. Yes it is pricey, but it comes with a piece of mind from a warranty and engineering perspective

I misread his first post. I thought he was asking for an opinion on whether he should buy them. I missed the portion where he said he already purchased the items.

Yup thanks to Raja he put it on for me last night. I know there are other mods that are cheapter but my 3 reasons I went Dinan was the good quality of parts, warranty coverage and if I resell the car it should not be a negative.

Thoughts??

you have earned the badge with the mods on the car. I SAY ROCK IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dinan makes solid products. It's well tested and proven vs. other stuff that is pretty good but not as well designed IMHO.

At the end of the day, i would pick Dinan, Alpina, Hartge stuff over other tuners. But that's just me.

Frankly Speaking DINAN is over priced!! There are other tuners outhere and good ones, have you Tried RENNtech, yes they are expensive but I have used their products for 10years on both my 02 MCS and now the 335d and never has their flash let me down!!, my two cents here

i thought this thread was about the DINAN badge on the OP's BMW, not the price or quality of DINAN.

complains about DINAN being expensive, then discusses another vendor being expensive.

good job

Not disputing the fact, and I agree that DINAN is expensive. Are there more bang for your buck mods out there? Absolutely. However the warranty and piece of mind in reliability was a factor that weighed heavily in my decision. That and the fit, finish, and how DINAN mods (in my opinion) still give the wolf in sheep's clothing look for the M5 was another factor. Other than the badge, you can't really tell my car is modded. I also don't have to worry about a dealership arbitrarily denying my warranty or a claim because I have a DINAN tune or mods. Nor do I have to remove any mods like some others do, or take my car elsewhere for fear of a dealership saying something.

I am strong supporter of Dinan. Their tune has been on my previous 07 E92 335i and my current 2011 335iS DCT along with the Dinan sage 3 mods.

They are a great company, quality at its best when it comes to mods, but they are having oscillation problems on the N54 platform. After doing some research on our TDO3 turbos, I found that not only was the Dinan tune conservative but it was no where remotely close to even reaching our turbo's max "SAFE" potential.

After speaking with the Dinan team, they wanted to charge me, the person who has marketed and tested their products for FREE, $8,000 for a custom stage 4

Finally I found a company, RENNtech, that offered max safe tuning, based on the turbo's specifications, with the right mods and they were cheaper being offered a similar warranty like Dinan.

RENNtech offers more power for less than Dinan and similar warranty. You can be in Dinan clothing but powered by RENNtech as I am.

Look into it.....

I'm not disputing RENNtech, and as I said, there are more bang for your buck mods out there. I just thought it funny how the other poster worded his post about one being expensive, then posting on another being expensive as well.

As for modding, I'm done. I spent a lot of money into a four year old car
