Glad to see the pic I took is the very first pic!!!! That was the very first run of the weekend, the 0600 trip that 7 of us went on.

Great pics. I was there a few weeks ago, albeit in a diesel golf hire car. Definitely not the ideal car when you need to clutch kick first to keep momentum out the hairpins.

Great trip, too bad my photos turned out crap. Maybe I can salvage a few. My co-driver took some nice ones with her iPod 5 so I'll post those as soon as I sort though them.

I've said it before but I'll say it again for the forum users here: The front side of Stelvio Pass is iconic, but the back side is much more fun.

Ancient Gotthard Pass (cobble stones pass). "Who are thou, trespassing my land ?"



Silvretta Pass. A toll pass = low traffic. The road sign on the pavement says "Fahrt" (i.e. "Drive"): their wish was our command.


Doing justice to «His Royal Smurfness» (His Royal Schlumpfness).




During quite a 'spirited' downhill drive of the 48-hairpinned Stelvio Pass (South side) in an attempt to catch up with the group heading to Nauders, this quasi six year young signorina suddenly said in relaxed way from her booster throne: "OK, let's play «I spy» !", as if we were just on a regular drive to the grocery store. So my wife kept her busy with that game during the Stelvio roller coaster, while I was particularly focused on managing the acceleration, brakes, negotiating corners and other road action. Once we were on "normal roads" in the valley she got bored and fell asleep. True story.

«The Fog» was a thriller movie directed by John Carpenter (1980). The Gavia Pass was also a thriller and the sudden onset and vanishing of fog did justice to this rather unsettling experience.

Up high at the Stelvio Pass (North Side), before thunder added some extra flavor to the rumble of the BMW cavalry passing by.


Passo Rombo - Timmelsjoch. Hush-hush, hear the BMW brakes ticking during the cool down. Someone had radioed: "Okay guys, let's reverse this pass". Afterwards we found out that, actually, he had only said "Okay guys, let's traverse this pass". Lost in translation...
