Hi,

I was told by my CA that I can't install both front and rear mud guards on the 135i cabriolet with M-sport package. Is this true?

Thanks in advance

I'm planning to do an Ed, but the title situation seems odd. When would you get title for the car and, if you don't get it until it gets back to your US dealer, what is it's legal status in Europe? Do you get somekind of temporary EU title? Is BMW Finance typically the only entity willing to finance an EU because of the title issue?

you are way overthinking this. Are you paying cash for the car? That is the only way you wold be receiving the title.

Basically it works like this
  • you complete the paper work for the car 14 days prior to delivery
  • bmw takes care of all the needed insurance & licsencing issues while in europe
  • you can finance with whom ever you want. If you reck the car in europe, it's not a whole different than if you wreck it here. Between insurance & you, the bank will get their money
  • do ed, save some cash, have fun, stop thinking so much:smile:

Actually, the problem is that the dealer I am working with said that many banks won't finance an ED because you can't deliver the title right away. The way I understand an ED works is that you pay the dealer 14 days before you pick-up the car. Then you have to wait another 6-8 weeks before the car gets to the US dealer where your registration and title gets completed. Is that true or do you not pay for the car before it arrives from Europe?

you pay for the car BEFORE you go to pick it up. You will have your 1st payment due before your car gets back to the states

Do the dealerships install license plate frames on the front bumper or does the VPC do it?

The dealer does it. However some states require them to install it regardless of what you ask them to do, so depending on your states laws they may have no choice.

yes & no. Our state does require the front plate, but many of our clients (including myself) still choose not do. We make our clients sign a waiver, so that they don't come back & blame us. I never put a plate on until the client says "ok"

Hi Dave

I have a 1 that is scheduled to arrive at the dealership a month earlier than anticipated. I had originally agreed to a mid-July delivery.

I am a little worried that there may be some pressures to take the vehicle early. Do the dealerships "loose" money if a vehicle sits on a lot rather than immediate delivery?

Thanks for any input you may have.

JB

well, for a month, that really shouldn't be much of an issue. More than that though, they will certainly apply some pressue. I'm assuming you probably have a lease or something that is going back in July? Also, I hate to say it, but I would go to your dealership when your car gets there, verify the mileage (no test drives) & reaffirm your agreement to pick the car up in July, so that it doesn't get sold to someone else. Not that those things would happen, but better safe than sorry

Thank you so much for the feedback, and super quick to boot! Actually this is a cash deal in which full funds are not available until July(maturing CD). I will check the car out as you suggest.

I think my car will arrive sometime in July. When should i finance for the vehicle? I am looking to go through penfed but would like to see if my bank will match first and also check to see BMW finance to see if they can match.

start looking now, try & get rate locks, gives you a little more time to "shop" rates

I have a question... How long does PDI really take? Minutes? Hours? I know it's an "extensive" check, but I'm just curious how long it really takes.

My dealer must be seriously backed up in the service department if they can't spare 30 minutes to get my car ready. It's been there since Monday evening, and they originally told me that it wouldn't be ready until Friday! I put some pressure on them and now they say maybe tomorrow, or definitely Thursday, but still I have to wonder why it would take so long to do a 30 minute job?

How responsive should a CA be? I believe I am asking some very simply questions but it takes 2-3 days to respond and sometimes I get the sense that he may be ignoring me. I don't expect him to be my best friend but quite frankly, I am not comfortable so far with his action.

To his credit, my car is in production (schedule to arrive in July), his promise of x amount over invoice remains the same... Just not very helpful with financing questions, and etc...

Okay, I'm sick of the threads that tell me what I should be able to do with my remote key and what I shouldn't be able to do. So maybe you can, since you work with the cars....

I have a 128 convertible. I've heard other people with coupes (and no Comfort Access) say that if they press and hold the unlock button on their remote that the windows and sunroof open. When I press and hold the unlock button on my remote, nothing happens.

Is it supposed to open the windows at least? Is there a software fix that I need? This is starting to make me angry.

thanks,
amy!

to be honest, depends how busy he is & how organized he is as well. I know for me, when I have 7-8 deliveries happening over 2 to 3 days, I'm damn near impossible to reach. But if he is like that all the time, can't really speak for him.

  • If you have a coupe & no CA you can still roll down the windows by holding the unlock button
  • If you have a convertible & no CA it will NOT roll down the windows
