Sirius Satellite Retrofit

HI Everyone,

I have done some searches and couldn't find an answer. My car is Satellite ready. I think I am just missing the receiver. I do not want to go thru the dealership to install the receiver. Has anyone done this retrofit? If so, what is required? Part numbers would be great.

THanks

Mine is a 2012 with GPS and dealer just added XM. I had to buy the software and they had to install it. The software comes from the factory....GR

I paid over $600 for this setup new. Good luck finding a plug and play setup like this at the JY. The MOST jumpers are pretty easy to configure once you start playing around with them, you will understand whats going on.

You can sometimes find the receivers out of other cars i.e. Ford and make them work, usually you have to splice the antenna, but the big plug is pretty standard. You still will have to get the mounting bracket and fan, if you can find one with similar mount points or you can velco it to the car. I would just spend the money and do it right.

Mind telling me how much you paid for the software and install? I too have a 2012 128 but with navi. Just curious in case I wanted to add satellite to it.

Garage List
Check www.car-part.com. It's a listing of hundreds of junkyards that will ship across the USA. Choose Radio and then Satellite Radio tuner. You can use any 3 series or 1 series tuner. I and several others got theirs for 200 or less with some subscription still active. You don't need the bracket, just get 2 sided foam tape and tape it down. It's very secure.
