Ingeniator's 135I Race Car build thread.
Hey fella's,
I picked up a wrecked 135I last week to turn into my race car. Car is in running condtion. My first step is to get it repaired enough to get the rebuilt title. I've posted the pictures from the ad below. I'll make sure to grab more as we throw parts on it once they come in. Eventually the car will be running a full cage and have staged turbos. Front end damage/required parts.

you mean "wrecked 135i" right?
the 135is is a different US-only special edition made in 2013. cool project though! salvaging a salvage! |

I think the "M" logo on the steering wheel is just a reflection of another "M" logo somewhere else? Weird. Can't believe you even noticed that!

If this is true then all 135I cars are identified by BMW as 135IS. As I said the build sheet identifies the model as a 135IS. Also the M Sport is an upgrade package so I highly doubt all 135I's are also M sport cars. As the F cars are a different chassis I don't see how the 2013 model is relevant. BMW America just sold you a car by adding a letter.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Not sure if I came across argumentative. It's odd that the build sheets call them a 135IS though. Original post has been edited to reflect above information.

I guess there were plans to name the car '135is' originally. It was meant to be an M car, too, I think...

Ingeniator is correct.
Internally, BMW referred to the 135i as the 135is during development. The 135is sold in the US in 2013 was a "special edition" marketing exercise by BMWNA similar to Lime Rock Park edition M3's etc. This has been discussed before. I do pine for those blue trimmed seats though. Secondly, not all 135i's had the M-sport package from factory. It included different suspension, wheels, bumpers, shadow line window trim, sport seats, exclusive paint and interior trim as well as a plethora of M badges Perhaps all late US spec 135i's mandated M-sport package similar to the mandatory sun roof. I can't speak to that at the moment but is maybe the point of contention? Good luck with the build. I always love reading these type of threads. Keep us updated with plenty of pics! |

PPK2 does not include an upgraded intake.
In addition to the software, it includes a supplemental water cooler and 850w radiator fan (vs stock 600w fan) From my understanding, the 313 wheels are not "special" either, simply another BMW aftermarket accessory. The only unique parts to the 135is model is the blue trimmed seats and badging. |

the 313s are an aftermarket accessory, but were not stock on any 135 offered anywhere. as i mentioned before, the 135is was a special PACKAGE with the combination of the PPK2, 313s, special leather, contrast mirrors, and exhaust ON TOP of the M-Sport package. Nobody claims it is a different car, however it was very nice to get all of these things with a special designation together in the spirit of what the 'is' is supposed to be....it has a set of ingredients which some of us wanted from the factory, under warranty. Update: Work slowed down so I got started.
So I'm done the big stuff on the track car rebuild. New K frame is in. 1M/M3 links and pulled out the old steering rack. I got the 1M/M3 rack prepped and new tie-rods on. Then I found the bad news. Steering expansion loop hose is bent and kinked and could use a new cooler. I also found the wiring ripped apart going to the old rack and the power steering pump. So here is my question. Does anyone have the wiring schematics for the AFS and normal steering cars. I'm deleting the AFS so I need to find what wires I need to splice to tie everything together. Please see pictures to get an Idea of what I'm talking about. 1st one is the new pig tail on the M3 rack. Second picture is the one off the AFS pump. 3rd is what I assume is the other end of the pump wire. 4th/5th misc wires that could be related but I think get deleted. Then a few pics of the project. As of right now I can't find the right wiring on real oem for either a car with afs or without. For the tldr folks I'm looking for schematics on the AFS wiring and non afs steering wiring.
