Finally installed BMS DCI and question.
Last week I finally got my BMS DCI's installed.
After install, I noticed that the oem airduct was not pointing towards the DCI's. So I brainstormed a bit, and came up with a bracket. Still remains one question: I know, there are a lot of discussions over airscoops. They work, they don't work, just for looks, waste of money. I agree with most of you, that when running a factory airbox, airscoops are pretty useless. But: now running DCI's, I think that airscoops will have a positive outcome on delivering fresh air into the engine bay. Any thought from you guys on this? |

The concept of "forcing" air just doesn't make sense to me, I have scoops but they're purely aesthetic.
Personally, I think people spend WAY too much time worrying about their intake source on this platform. The strongest N54s on earth almost all run open filter DCIs of some type. Nothing scientific, just my opinion on the matter.

Plus they probably work better for a factory airbox or sealed CAI. I have them on my AFE DCI and also not sure if they do anything. Maybe on the freeway at speed.

I can imagine that with a stock airbox, fresh air is sucked in through the filterbox, thus through the airduct in front of the car.
But with DCI's, the turbo's suck in air through the filters. I was just wondering if scoops couldn't help getting more fresh air into the enginebay, because of the lack of sucksion through the stock airduct. if you know what I mean? |

Scoops are cosmetic, don't worry about it. Plus, once you open the system, the vacuum is lost. Again, don't worry about it.
Bracket looks good though.

Thx Mike,
Funniest thing: Not only my gearchange hick-up dissapeared after the DCI install, but also my HPFP doesn't throw codes anymore I've had HPFP codes running map 1, so I never really bothered to run higher maps. Also codes thrown were: 3100 low boost mode engaged and 30FF boost under target But after I did a couple of strong pulls without codes, i did some WOT. Guess what, no codes of any kind.......... So yesterday I put on map 5, en ran it for 60 miles or so. Today I did 2 WOT's and no codes where thrown.............wtf??? Question ofcourse is, can an ITG tri foam filter in the OEM filterbox have caused these codes???????? |
