120i engine sound?

hi my girlfriend has an e87 one series. She says it sounds rubbish and always has under acceleration. Not broken, just rubbish ... any ideas how I can improve the noise for her. Any suggestions would be welcomed. she doesn't want a boy racer noise just suttle nice.

I suggested induction kit or new k&n panel filter and possibly a resignated cat back exhaust? any ideas? videos of sound would be appreciated as well.

I guess it's just finding one. I'm not after one that's too loud like that. I need some advice on one that's great sounding when you push the car and not much noise when you don't. Like a performance exhaust with smaller mufflers. You know ? Not something to boisterous.

You could pick up a 135i muffler. Will probably be louder than the 120i muffler but not as loud as the performance exhaust.

What does she not like about the sound? I personally didn't like how the N51 sounded overall, it lacked depth/bass from up front. I found my brother's C300 sounding a lot better. Wouldn't an intake help here? I never had an upgraded/aftermarket intake on my N51 but I'm pretty sure that will mildly change the car's sound.

The PE may be a bit loud for your GF because I've have people tell me that my car is too loud.
