So I went to the dyno today to do a comparitive analysis

Of the 3 tunes I currently own.

SSTT
JB3 PnP
Procede Rev. II PnP

Well I got 2 of 3 done. There was a problem installing the JB3 (got the half-engine light and weird idling...). It might be an O2 sensor issue. I am in email contact with Terry right now to try to work out the issue.

So since I could not get the JB3 to work properly I moved on to the Procede Rev II PnP. The HUGE draw for me with this is NOT that it makes more power (based upon others dyno charts..) but that it has a built-in O2 sensor so I can run my catless downpipes without having to add that extra box in my ECU area. Anyway once it was installed and we ran the dyno (ambient temps were ~89f - 94f). Just a bit about their dyno setup: Dynojet, dedicated dyno enclosure with built-in industrial fan, with 3 added fans for optimal airflow. It looks like a mini-aircraft hanger. I have pics and will post them later. Ok back to the dyno stuff. Due to short time I only had about 3-4 miles of adapation time before the Procede runs. Anyway check 'em out....I think I probably am making a smidgen more than the charts show due to the short adaptibility times:

*Note: Ratings are WHP of course and SAE

I will return once I work the issues out with the JB3 and do a comparison between the JB3 and the Procede Rev II.

Nice! We may have to nominate you for COTM for 2 or 3 months straight. You win one month with basically cosmetic mods, then another for performance mod, plus it's got to really look great once lowered.

Thanks Eyeman! I would make even better power I think if I get an IC on it....considering the Active Autowerks one....I will probably do it pretty soon here....

NO I have not had catless DP's since July '08!!......My lips are sealed as to what "actual" modifications I have made....LOL. The dyno chart speaks for itself.

Case in point, our engine is rated at 300 hp @ 5,800 and in the Dinan website, their stage II max hp is rated at 5,700. Check it out. Thus, if you have a Step floored and leave it on DS mode with a Dinan flash it is shifting 100 RPM's past optimal shift point, losing power. In a drag race it will compound. Also, it seems that the SSTT would like an early shift too.
Well luckily I have a manual...just didn't seem right to me to get a Step...manumatic.....automatic...or whatever it is called.

Sure man no problem. Is it ok if I send the invoice/bill to you first and then the tune? I mean...just saying

Yeah man I wish I could have done it on the same day. I was pretty frustrated at that time. To top it all off I don't have my cell phone (after accidently leaving it in a war zone...LOL) so I couldn't even call Terry to get some onsite feedback. Sigh...I will try again after the Bahamas

^^^ Ha ha... with the whole steptronic technology I think the stick shift population is diminishing... not so much with the die hard manual tranny guys but more younger people...I think having the steptronic/tiptronic makes someone who is just getting into cars an idea of what its "kind of" like shifting the gears themselves..

those numbers seem like you have no downpipes :S for the most part piggybacks matched to downpipes make around 380 whp. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just being curious based on what I've seen

BTW, for the record, do you even know what a Borg & Wagner T5 modified to "crash box" status by Liberty Transmissinons is? This was back in '89, maybe you were not even born then (take it as a compliment) and the only manual that could hold up to 10 second power-shifts...

If I find a picture of the 'Stang I'll post it for a few hours and delete since it's off topic.

Good morning to you too!
To be honest my bday was when Nixon was President (older than I look my friend).
What are we recording for the record? Prove to me that it takes more skill to drive a STEP and then I will not comment about it anymore. The real question is not do I know what a Borg&Wagner T5 is but whether or not I was questioning your choice of STEP vs. MANUAL (and to be honest it is rhetorical since it has nothing to do with my question). Do not get me wrong it is a pretty little Pony you have there but I am partial to the General and Deutsche Autos . (bankruptcy jokes are forthcoming I suspect...LOL).

When you go back to do the JB3 do a control of a non-chipped run so that we can get a nice comparo. Nice runs tho.

Dude WTH are you talking about? What does any of this have to do with my "comparitive analysis"? You basically hijacked my thread talking about STEPS and a stock dyno run. Why would I need a stock dyno run for a STEP when I have a Manual? If you want a Stock Dyno then open your own thread with a stock dyno and quit jackin' my thread talking about Mustangs, Power-shifting, and track racing. Jeez....In the absence of track time a dyno run on the same day with the same car with different tunes will PROVE what type of power each tune will make. So that is what I did...you don't like it? Then YOU go to the track and make that analysis.........

3. On post #17, I tried to open your mind to the fact that some Steptronic owners actually can drive a stick, can race a stick and do so with a racing transmission at a high level of expertise. I thought it would be prudent to back it up with pictures of the car, because talk is cheap.
4. On post #19 by M3R1, who graciously complemented the 'Stang, you can see in his post my quote regarding posting and deleting the pictures of the car. Please read it again, I am being extremely polite and respectful as usual. I challenge you to find one single use of foul or impolite language in any of my posts.
5. Post #21 by BrokenVert has a very good point: "do a control non-chipped run," what is also known as a baseline run. Per your post above, you deem it unnessesary. Yet this is how it's done.
6. My post #22, is off topic but educational. What is wrong with a little history?
7. This brings us to your last post quoted above. It is obvious you have an anti-Steptronic attitude or you simply cannot grasp why someone who can drive a stick (even expertly for some) would still opt for the Steptronic.
8. I respect either choice by forum members, the manual and the Steptronic.

I think in general you seem to be a good guy, but I respecfully suggest to you that you have a lot to learn about performance.

This post will be my last contribution to your thread.

Good luck with your Dyno runs.
You could have avoided all this BS if you recognized he has a manual at post 11 and moved on.

He's just defending step. I though they were both just joking with each other in a good natured way, and I believe Pirate was under the same belief, up until post #24.

This post will be my last contribution to your thread.

Good luck with your Dyno runs.
A. You could have simply asked "Is this run for a manual or step? Or alternatively looked at my garage and looked at my cars status. Instead you asked one question and then continued on showing your so-called expertise on that subject. Do me a favor...post your drag runs with YOUR car, or your dyno (same day, same car mind you) with all PERTINENT data and then we can talk..until then get off your soapbox....

B. I prefer a manual on performance oriented European vehicles. I do think automatics make many people lazy drivers...period. I find it interesting that in Europe and other parts of the world they MAKE you learn on a manual vs. automatic, step or whatever...that is fact. The reason they do this is cost and that learning on manual makes you a better overall driver in the end. Not once did I say that step drivers don't know how to drive stick....don't know where you got that from. I merely said it did not seem RIGHT to me to have a step transmission....that is not thinking "less" that is preference.

C. The Stang still has NOTHING to do with the comparitive analysis.

D. I WILL address the non-chipped run thing. Time constraints and my current setup with DP's prevented that from happening. My original setup before JB3 and PROCEDE was with SSTT and Riss Racing Catless DP's. I wanted to make a stock run but it just was not possible on that day. Like I said before you are more than welcome to do it and open your OWN thread and then link to it thru this thread. I would definitely be interested in it, especially if you did a base, tune, tune, and tune dyno all on the same day.

E. My last post was about you bringing STEP vs. MANUAL into the equation. I am anti-step for myself!!! You have the option to choose whatever you want to choose...but as for me I like to "row" the gears.

Sigh...some people just don't get it....come on MY thread and take it COMPLETELY off topic....:thr eadjacked::threadjacke d:
