Which one is better for drifting? If you are competing, you will find most on a clutch type of LSD. Neither Quaife or Wavetrac will be the best for drifting. As for street/HPDE/Track days, Quaife is the way to go. We sell both, but I personally run a Quaife in the car for its robust reliability. People usually talk about the "zero load" condition. Wavetrac could possibly work better than Quaife if you put on wheel on ice and one wheel on asphalt. When does this really happen anyway? When you are on ice, no diff will work. Why not demonstrate the improvements in on-road performance instead? The other situation is when one wheel is lifted off of the ground. Again, when does this really happen? If you are cornering with one wheel off of the ground on your drive wheel, something is wrong with your suspension tuning, and is definitely not the fastest way around the track. If the op were to say day to day driving, I would have probably not use the one wheel vs two wheel drive comparison.

For drifting, Wavetrac and Quaife are about the same - much better than stock, but not as good as for example OS Giken.
Wavetrac is less expensive and has a slightly enhanced design. Quaife has proven reliability and better chance that the company will still exist long-term. FWIW I always planned to buy a Quaife, but a Wavetrac was available for a really good price, so I grabbed it. |

Both are great units but wavetrac seems more popular, so I always recommend to go with what the community is using as its easier to trouble shoot and get feedback from the group. Can't go wrong with either at the end of the day.

Why would you need the community's help to trouble shoot if there is not a problem or noise to begin with? Quaife has been bullet prove and noise free. When a company has been around for nearly 20 years and continue to improve their products, we can see the results.
Wavetrac is just too new on the market with a good product, but still need to sort out a few things and prove its reliability. |

You said you sold ~20 units, but I don't see N54tuning listed as an authorized dealer for Wavetrac....is there some sort of mistake here? How would you handle warranty issues? Last edited by HP Autosport; 02-04-2011 at 02:44 AM.. |

Both the Drexler and OS Giken are excellent clutch type LSD units.
Drexler is easily twice the cost of the Quaife, but it is also used by the BMW Motorsport teams and race proven. However, its street manner may not be as quiet and smooth as the gear type LSD's. Anyone has one fo these on their street car? Last edited by HP Autosport; 02-04-2011 at 02:59 AM.. |

Dinan?
So, can anyone round out the comparison with an update on the performance of the Dinan LSD for the n55 135i? It was added to their web site a little more than a week ago.
