European Delivery Wholesale Pricing?
My brother and I will be going on a trip to Europe and he figures rather than buying a 1M here (and having to deal with dealer allocation issues) why not just take the ED option and enjoy the car in its homeland.
Any have the pricing sheet for ED wholesale pricing on the 1M. Or can it be calculated accurately by taking the US invoice price of $42,445 and multiplying it by .93 to calculate the ED wholesale price? By that math a base model 1M should have an ED invoice of around $39,474. Thanks in advance gents! |

It's my understanding that ED cars still come from the dealer allocations as it will ultimately be a US car when you ship it back, not to mention the 7% comes off MSRP not the invoice. Nice try though...

I have ready many places that ED cars do NOT come out of dealer allocation. Regardless, if anyone can point out the ED invoice it would be better than ED MSRP.

To find the approximate ED invoice just multiply the US MSRP x .86. The ED invoice is usually always 14% lower than the US MSRP for any BMW. Good luck getting ED invoice for this car though. Its not going to happen at this point. A few people got it but that was before the craze started. I got mine for ED MSRP which was good IMO. Most dealers won't even do that anymore. Just search for the pricing on this in older threads and you'll see what I mean.

Sq86, I do realize it's unlikely to get such a good deal on a 1M at this point in the game, but it can't hurt to try, right? I'm not trying to get ED invoice on the car for him, just something shy of MSRP such as $1,500ish above invoice. Hence I'm gathering the most accurate information I can find before we make a trip to some local dealers to try to strike a deal. Thanks! |

1. The 1M ED needs to be coordinated through a dealer. 2. Dealers lose money on ED. 3. Given the limited availability and extremely positive press the car is getting most dealers are now aware that they can easily get MSRP or above and will not agree to ED unless you already have a personal relationship with the sales manager or owner. I went with one of the highest regarded dealers in GA (based on recommendations from friends and colleagues as well as online reviews) and they flat out told me no ED for this car. They are throwing in a few things because I put my deposit down within minutes of walking in and finding they had an open allocation. Kinda sucks but there you have it. My fiancee is German and we visit every year. Would have been sweet to see how the 1M got on against her mom's 993 4S on the Autobahn (she insists that the BMW is not a true sports car like her Porsche) |

2. False, dealers do not lose money on ED 3. False, many have agreed to ED Every ED I have heard of was at ED MSRP, some people even got ED invoice (I know of 2 for sure at $500 over invoice of 39,500) |

Even selling at invoice they arent losing money, they are just making less money (they lose the difference from invoice to MSRP) Any dealer selling an ED car at US MSRP is making a mark up!! There are 2 invoice prices ED and US and 2 MSRPS again ED and US |

I also have this same ED printout for my car, however I am still working on the Manager to honor the price and I am a repeat buyer three times over. Most cars are getting marked up over MSRP, dealers have no incentive to sell at ED price.

TRUE FALSE There are plenty of dealers that will make a deal at ED MSRP. I can give you a list of 40 dealers that I have called and none have balked at ED MSRP pricing. I myself have two deposits at two dealers for ED MSRP. Perhaps in certain areas of the country ( likely California and New York or other coastal large cities) getting ED msrp is impossible but it's certainly not an issue from south Carolina to west texas. To the OP. The US ED discount for the 1M is listed on the BMW USA website. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 06-28-2011 at 08:15 PM.. |

As I said I also have the ED pricing sheet with my Production number and Delivery date and it lists the ED price on it as well. However this is just a default print out for an ED date, in my case 08/08/11. I also have had my deposit on the car since last October with 2K down but getting the dealer to honor this price is another story. Let us know when you get your Allocation and ED date and the final price.

I guess you wouldn't mind showing us your final price paper work then? And when was your ED date?

if this is true, please share with the group. seems folks are dying to get a real allocation, let alone ED. sounds like these dealers are blowing smoke.
