Ok not ALL today...but so far. My new to me 2012 Deep Sea Blue Metallic on Black Sensatec LCI 128i Steptronic with 181k miles on it's still wonderful, and full of life N52. Only options are the paint, heated seats and navigation with iDrive. I planned on using this vehicle as a daily/commuter, but I'm afraid I've already fallen for it. It was very well maintained by the prior owner and always serviced at a BMW center. Fresh fuel pump, power steering pump, active oil change contract. Had BMW OEM maintenance plan until 100k. It needs a bit here and there but the bones are stunning.

-Replaced both headlamps with OEM Valeo units. I tried my best to polish them, but it ended up becoming worse, and I'm so happy with the price and the install! Sometimes new lamps are the only way to go. Shame it isn't like the E46 where the lenses are replaceable separately. (without a bake!) Excuse the handprints in the pics.

-Replaced the third brake lamp and a whole rear lamp obverhaul...nice and bright again.

-Replaced failed driver side door lock actuator

-Installed new iDrive surround, door lock pin surrounds, start and stop button, trunk release button, and shift knob with new OE parts due to normal BMW peeling plastics.

-Engine filter and cabin filter replaced

-Oil service (while it's still on jacks-- LiquiMoly 5W-30 w/ Ceratec and Engine Flush prior).

-A new Style 264 staggered setup is currently being refurbished, so after the LOF, I will await having the ability, to actually, you know- drive it again and then comes much more maintenance.

^^ Gorgeous!

Wasn't able to snap a pic, but I saw an (ultra rare?) 1er in Marrakesh Brown on a SoCal freeway today. Interesting, but I like my Sedona better.

I drove to Kingston this weekend. At a stop light yesterday, someone pulled up alongside and said, "I love your car!" Can't say that's ever happened to me before!

This morning I checked out the Titanic-era S.S. Keewatin (built 1907), one of the last of the Great Lakes steamliners, retired in the 1960s. It will be undergoing repairs this spring and summer and it opens for public tours next week.

I drove up to Bon Echo on the way home this afternoon - lots of great back roads up that way, like Highway 509 - and mostly empty this time of year.

Finally got the wheel speed sensors I ordered from aliexpress and was able to clear out the weird “ABS inactive” diagnostic, AND coded out the tpms in favor of ftm to clear the weird RDC diagnostic.

At last my 1er has a clean bill of health (according to the dashboard). Next up, take the door panels off to track down and replace the leaky rubber seals that have been letting water into the car. I’m truly dreading this …

Went ahead and ordrered a new engine air filter as well. I checked it yesterday and looked pretty bad to me. I should receive the cabin filter by Thursday.

Fun times the past few days. Replaced brakes on all 4 corners (rotors, Ferodo DS2500 pads) and almost all of the brake lines with StopTech braided lines except the 2 inside ones in the back because...the fittings were fused and the hard line fitting on one went went bye bye. All fluid is now drained Also installed new wheel studs.

Currently waiting for tow to shop to get hard lines repaired, remaining steel lines installed and fresh brake fluid. Hoping to get it back before HPDE at PittRace this weekend.

The 509 is one of my favorite roads...glad to see you made it up there. Flinton road from hwy 41 to hwy 7 is a decent route as well, and I usually make it part of my 506/509 run.
Another one North of Kingston worth checking out is Desert Lake road (county rd 19) from Verona to Sydenham. It's not as long as the 509, but is even more twisty. No, really. Honest.
There are some worthy roads North of Peterborough as well....and Perth (up around Calabogie).
A late night lap of Prince Edward County can be fun too.

Thanks for the tips iamroddy. I saw the turn off to Flinton Road. (I think I also recognized the "Winding Road for 32 km" sign from your profile on Hwy 509). There are a lot of great roads through the Haliburton Highlands, too.

I'll be sure to check these out this summer.

Finally got around to installing the mr12volt system for my 2009 128i with CIC and Nav. It said I’d need to code it since I don’t have a cd changer in the trunk but it worked right away. When does that ever happen?

Amazing how responsive it is. It’s as peppy as the system on my 2021 x3. Audio quality is night and day and I love how it made my nav screen a plus instead of a minus for my car.

Got her all washed and waxed. Now I'm just waiting for the pollen to ruin everything!

Ew! Just saw how ugly my jack pads look. Time to order some new ones...

Nah, they are pretty chewed up. I was waiting until after I replaced the oil pan gasket.

Beautiful! Don't worry about the jack pads - the next speed bump you drive over will take care of them (works for me at least!)
