M3 Aftermarket Stlye Mirrors

I have seen a few people have dared to change the mirrors on there 135. I was looking around on the E90 forums and there is a few aftermarket mirrors for sale. Only problem is I haven't had much lucky finding any installed photos of them on members cars.

I was wondering if the people I see on 1addicts with m3 style mirrors actually manned up to the 1500ish for the OEM ones or bought them aftermarket.

These are the ones I could.

You can also buy the factory M mirror retrofit kit from any BMW dealer. It's not cheap at around $1,000 USd.

I certainly manned up and bought them right from the dealer but went through my local shop and got a better deal then going to the dealer... They are pricey but hey you either do it the right way or go the cheaper route and end up paying more in the end after they break or don't work properly...

Makes the car look ten times better in my opinion...

if I'm reading this right, would retrofitting a non-dipping mirror cost substantially less? (looking at the cost of just the mirror glass alone, a pair of the dipping version is $550 more than the non-dipping)

For vehicles with
Interior/outside mirror with auto dip = No
S430A=No
03 Mirror glas heated plane left 1 51168046507 $70.22
03 Mirror glas heated convex right 1 51168046508 $95.51

For vehicles with
Interior/outside mirror with auto dip
S430A=Yes
03 Mirror glas heated plane left ELEKTROCHROM 1 51168041953 $351.55
03 Mirror glas heated convex right ELEKTROCHROM 1 51168041954 $368.24

Yes, that is my understanding.

You should really contact a parts expert like Dan@United or Tischer to see what the part prices and what options you have(wether auto dip or not).

I asked dan before and the mirror from him is US Spec but what is the difference between the US Spec and the Euro Spec?

I assume one difference is that the concave mirror is going to be on the right instead of the left?

Well... the US spec cars are LHD and you guys need a RHD setup. The euro mirrors have the outside edge of the glass(well... its really plastic I think) as a super wide angle. The last thord of the mirror has a wider view than the rest.

On USA cars the right side mirror distorts the image to make them look closer than they really are. The left (drivers)side has normal mirror view.

Why couldn't you just order Dan's 1M mirror kit without he mirror glass. ? Then order that locally. Or maybe Dan could order you the RHD EU glass. ? You should PM Dan and ask him.

Wasn't quite ready to purchase yet so was only asking question. Didn't want to waste too much of Dan's time

But good point get everything but the mirror from Dan!

He did mention he can't get the RHD version.

Thanks for pointing that out Rey... I was about to pull the trigger on a set of these and hadn't even considered the RHD/LHD thing....

I wonder what the kit costs to buy locally...
