Rubbing issues with spacers
Just installed 10mm spacers all around with stock height settings. Noticed a rubbing in the rear tires. I'm using Michelin Sports 275/35/19 stock wheels.
Anyone experienced rubbing with spacers? Did you cut or trim anything to stop the rubbing? Is not a bad rubbing, i'm thinking its coming from the edge of rear bumper. Any ideas?

Rear is the same Michelin but one size over which looks way better and beefier.

I also have 275s in back but without the spacers. It does look beefy! |

I believe mine is the new version as it has a curve in the middle. Isn't that the difference between new and old liners?

No...the old ones have that indentation at the vent area. The difference is the indentation has been enlarged for the new version. There are pics of both versions in the liner thread. I have pics of both but can not post them from my phone...maybe I will tomorrow at work.

You can be sure yourself by checking the thread, like OrangeCrush suggested earlier or post a photo of yours.

I will take a pic and post it. I know mine has a curve in the middle which gives a bit more clearance but not sure this is the "old" or "new" design liner. Where's the thread with the revised liner?

Thinking if I should go with 15mm spacer stock setup or 5mm with 275's in the rear. Have any pics of the rears with 275?

Actually, when I first got the rears mounted I thought there was some rubbing...it looked like marks were being left on the tire caused by that little tab where the fender meet the bumper. I needed to have an alignment done to correct a different issue (feathering in the front tires) and found out that my alignment was out of spec for all four wheels. The rears didn't have enough camber and after they adjusted the alignment into spec the rubbing stopped. So I guess if your alignment is good you shouldn't have any issues without spacers. You might rub with 10-12mm spacers but 5mm should be fine. I can now confirm that 255 PSS in the front do not rub with the revised liner. It is very close though. |
