Read Main Seal - possible seal failure
While under my car today troubleshooting if my water pump went I found this as well.
I would have to assume rear main seal? Any input appreciated

With the trans out, the water pump and thermostat will be very accessible as well. Before you jump to conclusions, I'd try to see if that oil can be traced up any further on the engine though. |

Thank you for the feedback
I should of included some other information as I just posted the thread while I was out from underneath the car 2010 86k Sits every winter It seems as my water pump just went as well Has the notorious valve cover crack that has been seen over the forum. So I do have oil in places I shouldn't from the over time as it has been such a slow leak of oil.

check vanos solenoids, oil filter housing. wind will blow oil rearwards. if in doubt thoroughly degrease the whole engine and suspect area and recheck after a few days

When my OFHG went the oil pan had oil on it and initially I thought it was the pan gasket. So clean and track.
Easy method to track oil leaks? Spray on foot powder. Leaves a white coating that oil leaks show up very easy against....
