My bad! I was reading this thread because it is about snow tires and didn't notice that it is a 1M-specific thread. I drive a 135i. Tirerack.com assures me that I can fit 17" rims on my car...

I think the most cost effective route would be some 18"'s (square) and 18" blizacks.(SP?) |

I decided to go with 235/255 Blizzak LM-60 tires mounted on 19 x 8.5/9.5 VMR wheels. Our road conditions during the winter are actually decent (clear but very cold asphalt with limited amounts of ice), and I plan on driving the 1M only now and then during the winter months.

If any one knows someone with a 135 or 3 series and wants a set of replica M6 wheels, black, let me know. The ones I ordered don't fit over the 1M front brakes.

I just spoke to TireRack and they said they can't guarantee their Sport Edition A7's 18x9 would work up front. Should I just go with the recommended staggered package for now? I was really hoping for a square setup for winter.

People at tire rack also told me they won't have some of the 19" rims in stock until mid November, at the earliest. This led me to source 19" wheels elsewhere.

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...t+Grey+Painted These are the whirls I used for my e46M3. I know they fit the 1m because I had to use them for 2 weeks when I ruined a wheel and Tire in June and had to wait for my dealer to order a 1m wheel & tire. They sit without spacers. I use Perelli Sotozeroes. Holly |

Hey there, as I will get my 1M under the christmas tree (and there's snow here in Belgium) I asked to get it directly with 18" ///M wheels and Michelin Pilot Alpin.
So I will let you know if they're secure or "Torque Holiday on Ice" despite winter tires........ |

Based on the VMR VB3 on M3 :
18"x8.5" +20mm Front 18"x9.5" +22mm Rear based on the calculation, the front will EXTEND 5mm outside. Is that meaning the tire will rub?

5mm is approximately .20 of an inch i.e. 1/5th of an inch i.e. less than 1/4 an inch. not much. I think it may depend upon whether your car is lowered.

BTW this is making me realize why my family runs screaming when I get on my which tire and/or wheel should I buy obsession. I'm now worrying about next years track/autox tires. This is why my late husband used to send me off to wing/beer night with the boys while he went to "tree Hugger" outdoorsman cr*p night. holly |

I made my 18x8" wheels fit over the front calipers by using a 12 mm spacer. Not very much room left (>5mm), but the wheel spins freely now. Tire order is next. Will show pics when completed and mounted.

I've always been fond of the stock anthracite 18" wheels that came on the E9x M3s. Pricey, though.

The starting offset was 37 mm, front and rear.
Here is a photo of the front wheel, sans tire.

Not sure. I figure a +20mm would keep the spoke off the caliper face. Still researching.
