Widest Wheel/Tire Combo for SCCA STX
All,
I'm going to start my build towards SCCA STX for a 2012 128i w/M Sport Package (not like the M Sport does anything). I'm going to be running TCKline DA Shocks with probably around -3* to -3.5* upfront and maybe -2* in the rear. Gotta check on camber settings. Anyways, I ideally want to run around a 17x8.5 wheel squared I was thinking a 255/40/17 tire would be the best. Most likely it will be a ZII tire or RS3. However, I'm not completely knowledgeable on max tires that I can squeeze under the front and rear wheel wells. Ideally, I would like a 17x9 wheel with a 255 tire...will I be okay or would I have to go to 245? Here is the wheel that will be mounted: http://www.apexraceparts.com/ARC-8-17x9-Wheel_p_17.html Quote:

So, thoughts? I'm concerned of course mainly about shock clearance, proper offset and rubbing against the wheel well. Thanks in advance! |

255 will fit if you get the right offset. I run a 245/40 up front on 18s, and I could easily get 255s under without rubbing.

David at Apex should be able to chime in any moment now.

From others though that I ran against, they are picky with their pressures. They like to run mid-20 PSI on autocross. People love them, or hate them...really no inbetween. I want to either go 245 on the RS3s, or 255 with the ZIIs. I want to get ZIIs and get the tire on a 17x9 wheel, if possible. |
